i hate to say it but already am playing it with one of the groups I play with.
its the easiest song known to man and its sinisterishly catchy (did i just make up a new word there?)
the girl in that group sings it really well.
Until i moved up here i hadnt really played many covers before so now that i am i just roll with it and play whatever the f*** they tell me to.
i even played an abba song for one gig.
its amazing how much better you get at guitar when your forced to play music you wouldnt normally play.

I guess it depends on the crowd - I've love all the old metal tracks, but does everyone? Frankie Goes to Holywood, Duran Duran, and those mentioned in Smitty's post are all top 80's pop. You could throw in some Village people for the closet brigade - or for something really fun put a twist on some classic pop stuff, check out Black Sweden

Might sound funny but Tears for Fears have some pretty simple well known tunes if you have a keyboardist.......
Shout, Everybody wants to rule the world, Change Head over Heels
I have learnt heaps of Curt Smiths bass riffs they really flow well & I enjoy noodling with their songs
Or........some Cure
Not exactly metal but the 80's were made up mostly of new wave synthesizer bands

But you cant go wrong with AccaDacca, or the Angels.. "am I ever gunna see you face again" .. ... ... .... .... ... might be appropriate.
60's-70's music was so much better IMO

Worst day in music history when Duran Duran was kept from the top of the British pop charts by Joe Dolche singing "Shudda up a ya face"

I was a triple j listener even then, so stuff this 40 y.o. listens to wouldn't be to the majority taste, methinks.
