New Tyres

As for the conti's, I've only ever used the one which is like a Pilot power or a BT016 ....ie to say a sports road tyre, not a race tyre or touring tyre, can't remember what they called it. I think at the time, I gave it the gong for the worst tyre I had ever used just behind the 002 street and the Avon whatever it was which lasted, sydney-melbourne (around 1000klms!!). The carcass is as stiff as a 16 year olds wanger and they have average grip, feel and wear...once again ...in my opinion! But remember, I have no vested interest in selling tyres of any specific brand.

How long ago did you try them Marty?

They are either the Attack sports or Attack race I think. One or both have dual compound probably the sports only, however so I was told it is a gradual blended mix from the center out to a soft compound etc, not a defined edge between them?

The other part that I found interesting was unlike other simular styles they are 20% hard center with 40% soft either side (40/20/40%) as to 30/40/30% on other brands meaning ya on the softer stuff earlier which for my style of riding sounds attractive. Mind you this is what I am told.

Do you prefer the race type of tyre over a sports tyre/touring?
Reason I ask is value for money and all that verses km's

I too aint no fan boy of any brand either, but tyres change and I am willing to try anything once.

If my memory serves me they were sport attacks that you said were shit,Kazz uses road attacks on her little vtr,not that she is a fanger they are probably ok for small bikes but even hers flattened out pretty bad.Ok she commuttes but there was a fair bit of twisties involved there.I personally wouldnt put the contis on a big bike,best bet either road 2s or roadsmarts

Pilot road 2's it will be.
As for mileage...........we'll have to wait and see

shouls get 10k at least mate. the are pretty sturdy tire, hoff and his man love give them a fair hard time and they last him quite well.

As Mal said, they were Sport attacks. They were seriously crap! Hard as fuck in construction, you felt every pebble through the bars and every bump through the entire bike. They had average grip and less than average life. I think i got less than 5K from a rear. I hated them. I'd rather wank with a cheese grater than ride on another set!!

Yeah Jono...that bad!! I'm pretty cool with most modern tyres, but honestly, those, the Bridgestone 002 Street and the Avon whatever it was (Race tyre that lasted 1000klms...just) are three of the worst tyres I've ever used. I'd rather ride on Macadams than any of those three again!!!!

got a BT021 on the rear of my ER6 and after 5000klms it looks like its got at least that many k's still in it. seems to stick well. its a sport touring tyre.

The Bridgestone that came OEM with my 14 were utterly destroyed after 6K.
The Michelin Pilot Road 2 who came after that lasted me 15K !
After about 10K you could tell they weren't all that fresh but they were still good enough for another 5K. I am no kneedragger but I am not slow either (but honestly if you aren't Valentino can most of you really tell the difference between the Bridgies and the Mich' ?), they do the job very well in the twisties, very good feedback at least for the first 10K, and they sort of let you know when you are pushing the limit (if that makes any sense).
Happy enough with them that I just got another set installed !

the stock Bridgestones are quite different to the ones you go but at a tyre place.

my Z1000 destroyed a set of OEM BT014's on 300kms of race track. thats pretty bad for a sports touring tyre.

yer especially cause your not a kneedragger wattie thats poor tyre life
