FAAAAAAAAAAAAARK! Lost my Zen :(

Postby Cath » Fri Aug 14, 2009 4:01 pm

I just discovered that the Two Brothers got scratched when the bike dropped
That bloody exhaust was one of the big reasons I didn't buy a ZX10 (I've always wanted the titanium crim ever since I saw MickC's and came soooooo close to grabbing Frazza's) and now it's scratched. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Damage:
Scratched exhaust
Scratched fairings (three different fairings)
Broken fairings (ducktail and front)
Scratched bar end & lever
Broken mirror

The fact that the undertail exhaust was scratched kinda shows just how far over it went (downhill and sliding). I thought any drop that damaged that exhaust would have totally fucked the whole bike anyway, as it's pretty out of the way. I'm thinking it might be an insurance job, there's that much damage :( Will have to get some quotes. I *really* *really* hope I included the Two Bros on the insurance policy.

I'm posting pics of the bike damage, but not putting it in the Show Off Your Ride forum as it states "Show us your happy snaps here" and I'm not happy

And I've started stiffening up and getting quite sore now. I don't know how long I can hold out before I crack open a bottle of red and drown my sorrows.

:( :(
It does look like an insurance jobbie to me Cath - a fair bit of $'s there to repair from those pics and what you've said.
Take a hot long bath along with your bottle of Red - you'll feel better for it tomorrow.

Adrenaline does wonders when you're trying to pick up your dropped baby (I managed to pick up the old ZZR600 with a broken wrist), but you really feel it afterwards.

If you need help with Dave away let me know - I know there's others closer, but anyways...

Bugger!

I know how bat that feeling is when your bike gets scratched so you've got my sympathy Cath :goodman:

Did you pick up the broken off bits of plastic? Makes it a lot easier if you want to get things repaired without replacing panels and I can assure you that you don't want to see the cost of new panels if you aren't claiming it on insurance

ouch Cath, I know exactly how you feel. seems like the kwakas are engineered to destroy as much of the bike as possibe in a low speed slide.

hope you feel better soon :/

Thanks Ty. I'm fine, but thanks :) I think I'll just have a glass of red along with my bath, not a bottle - I may not be able to get out of the bath otherwise  I'll have the rest of the bottle once I'm back on dry land!

Thanks Mick. Yeah, I collected all the broken bits. Sounds like it was a good idea - now I'm scared about how much panels cost :(

Thanks insane & Mel

Really sorry this has happened for you Cath. Hope the insurance covers everything for you - looks expensive. :(

Hope you recover well - enjoy some wine and a bath and hopefully the muscles will loosen up.

Nobodys said it yet, FFS HTFU!

Look, top and tail, fell over and it hurt, bikes can be fixed or not, insurance pays if you can't fix it at small cost, insurance doesn't pay if you don't want to pay for insurance, easy.
Your on a win win, get the ballpien hammer out take it to your frame in an inopportune moment and a relevant position 'oh dear' I can get it written off now.

Wait for the payout and go and upgrade :kuda:

Enjoy working the system Cath ;)

hahaha thanks Damo - I just came in to post that I'd had a long bath and quite a bit of wine and it's all back in perspective. And that you all should've told me to HTFU, instead of indulging my sook-y-ness.

If it's not too expensive to fix, I'll just get it fixed. If it is, I'll get it on insurance. It's only cash - I can always earn more, or skimp on groceries and other non-essentials ;) It's not like I'm in hospital or anything!

But thanks for all the kind posts, PMs and SMSs guys - you're all awesome. And my baby isn't dead, she just had a small trip and fall!
