How much weight can a grown man lose in 12 days?

Postby Stereo » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:29 am

So here is my challenge to you... Guess how much weight I am going to lose over a period of 12 days.

Current weight 121Kg (roughly, will give a more accurate weight on the starting day)

I will be working out at the gym every day (Cardio every day, weights 3 times a week)
Keeping Calorific content low
Snacking on yoghurt and rice crackers 3 times a day
Drinking lots of water
Avoid ALL alcohol, snacks

Period: Monday 17 August 7AM - Friday 28th Augest 7PM

Results will be ratified by my wife, who never lies.
The world is round. It has no point.

Isn't it better to make a consistant change, drop weight over a slightly longer period and maintain the lifestyle to keep it off?

Hope ya get back down to your target, and even more that you maintain it long term.

If it works and you know it works go for it mate, but that is a fair bit of weight to loose in such a short period of time and you got less chance of keeping it off, if you have something you are attending that requires you to loose the weight sweet but otherwise hmmm yeah not so sure. Also have you tried interval training or had a personal trainer to show you interval training, you can strip a hell of a lot of weight doing that and you give you body time to recover, I don't see any recovery time in your program, just be careful of that but good luck may the exercise force be with you starwars

I have actually slowly been losing weight for the last few weeks, the reason why it has been going to slow is because I am not very disciplined when it comes to booze and the snacks that get eaten after said boozing has commenced... I have lost 8kg so far ...... so I am thinking of full 100% discipline for 12 days... to see the results...

Cool yeah see if you can get some interval training in, you'll find it will strip off you quite quickly, I don't know anyone who hasn't lost a decent amount of weight in a short period of time with interval training, especially if your going to try for the full on discipline approach for 12 days you could actually comfortably loose up to 8kg if your really disciplined and your body is used to exercising, throwing in interval training it's pretty awesome it's also a massive stamina builder and awesome strength builder. I can give you some if you like, Boozatboo who has doen personal training also offered in the weight loss thread so you could ask her to.

 Not of fat he couldn't. If you did loose more than 2 or 3kg it will be a reduction of glycogen and water storage in the muscle. Stick to losing your 1 to 2kg per week as it will give you a longer lasting result.

This'll be very interesting... I went on the rapid vege's in soup diet and lasted 4 days before I ended up nailing two steak sandwiches on the 5th day. Didnt work obviously! I hope this does kick start something for you and your able to keep it off and stay healthy!

100% agree and also if you are loosing high numbers through a low energy (calories) diet the first thing the body will shed is muscle as they are super energy absorbing. Your body will fight to retain fat stores as the are it's back up plan in times of low energy and skipped meals. Therefore the first to go will be muscles. However this will help you reach your target as they are heavier than fat but you may not look as healthy for it.

Wouldn't that depend entirely on the exercise and diet he employs during this 12 day period. That's a very firm, "no way". You have little idea what the body is actually capable of if put under the right stresses and conditions.

I have lost 5kg in under 10hrs on a race day! And before you go saying it was all fluid, it wasn't! I weighed in pre race, over hydrated on purpose to get a falsely high reading, and still weighed in 5kgs under my normal weight, or 8kg's under my weigh in weight, at the end of the race.

8kg's is definitely do able under the right conditions.

My best results were 6kg in 2 weeks.

Been training seriously now since around ANZAC day and have lost over 13kg so far. You will probably get up's and down's in your weight every week so set yourself longer term goals. For example, in 2 months you want to be 115kg, in 4 months you want to be 110kg, etc etc.

My goals were. Starting at 103kg, get under 100kg ASAP. Then I wanted to be under 95kg by around the start of June, made that, then set 90kg by the end of July, made that, now looking for sub 85kg by middle of October.

I don't think fad diets which search for quick results are worth bothering with. You should be looking to make a life style change as a whole. Don't worry about calorie counting and all that crap, just eat good natural foods with little or no processed sugars and fats. Drink heaps of water, and stay off the sports drinks.

Good luck :kuda:

when i quit smoking the first time i did it by working out at home. and i would push myself between 2-3 hours a night hard training. I would lose 2-3 kilos and then just drink alittle water and everynight lost another kilo. So roughly a kilo a day. lol was drinking only water and horleys drinks but it worked. lost 25 kilos and kept it off while i was training. 12days you would easily lose over 7kilos but the hard thing is to keep it off.

Since i have stopped training i have gained it all back.

Yeah sorry but I do agree with triway and gpxpunk, I'm an ex competition latin dancer and professional dancer and when I was dancing I can tell you now I managed to loose 7kg in one week just from training so it can be done and it aint all fluids hence where I was going with the interval training, but yes as others have said if you want to keep it off you gotta keep the training and hard training up and yeah you gotta make it a lifestyle change not just a well I am going to crash diet for two weeks, you won't keep it off, best of luck and like I said if you want any actual exercise techniques I am sure there are plenty that can give you some here, me included. :kuda:
