Sometimes life just kicks you in the balls

Postby Nelso » Mon Jul 27, 2009 7:41 pm

This year has been a disaster. It started off with me opting to stay home and build my part time business rather than take a holiday only to have the clients pull out at the last minute and fuck me around. Then came the accident where I wrote off the Z1000 and messed myself up in a big way. Throughout the year there has been a bit of uncertainty with my job as the Department will not let the Principal advertise the job I currently fill the way he wants so my contract has been renewed for short periods of time rather than a year block. This has resulted in me not being paid and having to chase up payroll issues a heap of times. We have been building a new garage which has been one set back after another and has left the house and yard looking like a war-zone.

To top the year off, the accident put a massive strain on my marriage and had my wife questioning whether she wanted to stay with someone who is into what she calls extreme activities, so she moved out a couple of weeks ago ending our thirteen year relationship. After she left I packed up and headed down to the snow to work for a week which was good as it would help me keep my mind of things at home. Unfortunately on the third day of work one of the kids in my lesson ran into me which resulted in my knee swelling as the day went on. That night I was in all sorts of pain as my knee had blown up and was putting pressure on the nerve so I had no sleep at all. In the morning I was hobbling into the office to fill out my accident report and slipped arse over on the ice (full movie style legs in the air flat on my back slip) at the front door and bruised my (already tender from the bike accident at the start of the year) back.

So now I am on compo from my part time job and had an MRI on Saturday which the results came through this afternoon. After having a chat with my physio mate I am up for an arthroscope to repair the damage which could put me out of action from riding for a while; maybe even Gingers Creek FFS. The only thing that has kept me sane this year is getting the Rex and getting back riding and it looks like that will be gone for a while now, not to mention the ski season is well and truly fucked.

So there you have it. I must have ran over a Chinaman to have the luck I've had this year. I just hope the year improves from here on in as it sure as hell couldn't possibly get any worse. :?

Sorry for the long post and all the negativity people. I just had to get it off my chest.

Sounds like a plan Russ although it doesn't take much to get me hammered these days as I'm too out of practice. :D

Thanks for all the well wishes too guys. I'm doing my best to keep my spirits up but it's great to hear the support from everyone.

I tried getting it out on the weekend but by the end of the street it was too painful to have my foot on the peg for any amount of time. :x I might need to invest in a Harley style highway peg for my right leg.

Mate that blows...

My bad year was 2007, no doubt most people on here back then would have heard about it.

From personal experience I have found (and this may seem trite) that when you have hit rock-bottom the only way is up. In my case my wife of 20 years (minus a few months) moved out with her new girlfriend and left me with the kids and the mortgage minus one salary. I had to remortgage the house and struggled to pay the bills.

Since then I have met my new partner, she has moved in and I'm happier than I have been for a long long time. I also changed jobs internally and had a half-decent payrise. Swings and roundabouts mate, swings and roundabouts.

...in other news my Ex threw away a relationship that lasted 22 years for a fling that last less than six months. She had the balls to ask me if I'd take her back if my new partner wasn't around. I declined her kind offer...nicely. I don't hate her and we still get along most of the time, but the last time was the second indisgression and there's only so much heartache and pain a person can take without leaving themselves unable to trust anyone again. She's since found someone else and is also very happy so I'm guessing the swings and roundabouts applies to everyone, even those that appear at first glance not to deserve it ;).

Sounds like you've had it tough, but at least you're hanging in there. Keep your chin up.

Hey dude I am so sorry, I hear ya about having a bad year, mine started oh about July last year, way to long a story to go into but mate I would say chin up but when your way down I know when people tell me that I it's like farq I just can't the best thing that happened to me and honestly that has kept me above drowning are the awesome people on this site. I will say this, life sucks it's cruel and unkind but what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger and if you have an awesome bunch of people and support network like the guys and gals on this forum it does alleviate some of the pain all I can say is if you ever need anything even a chin wag (that's right I wrote chin wag peoples) with a few alcoholic brewskies if nothing else I am always on the other end of the phone.

I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

Thats a tough year mate - really sorry to hear what you're going through. Just know that eventually it will settle back to some kind of normal but it's crap while going though it.

Hoping everything gets sorted for you soon and in the meantime keep your chin up.

That sucks mate. As everybody else has said, chin up and keep chilling with your riding mates and you'll get through it.
