Do You Believe In God?

Postby Richo » Wed Jun 24, 2009 8:04 pm

Today I had a coupla guys come to my door and ask if I believed in God. (Im sure you have had the same at one time or another)

This thread may become fairly contriversial in its creation..... however I would seriously like to know where the majority stands ....

Its been often quoted that 95% of the poplulation believe in either God OR a higher presence of such ... and thus would like to put it to the test ....

Im simply taking a poll of the only forum I am a part of ...and believe it is a true cross-section of a "normal"" slice of humanity.... :?

Why poll this???? .... Because Im curious ... is that ok? ;)

And on the seventh day Richo ended his work which he had made. Decided resting was for soft cox, straddled the REX and headed up the old road.
And it was good

Controversial topic indeed.
I'm not sure that I believe but by the same token I don't disbelieve. If it helps people to gain strength in they're own being and to bolster their confidence whether it be day to day or when in crisis then it can be a good thing for their psyche. It is when over enthusiastic zealots become overbearing that I turn off.
I voted yes after a long deliberation.
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

I dated a VERY devout 7 day adventurer a few years ago and prob the closest I ever came to "God".
Well after many 'religeous' sessions resulting in her making divine reverance , I quickly summised that she was neither "innocent" nor 'devout' and the whole 'flock' thing was little more than a bunch of scaredy pussy's who needed a sence of security / forgiveness for their often impure (maybe there is a God!?) thoughts..... :kuda: :kuda: :kuda:

Well at least they have disproved some peoples belief that God was black...

He said you are what you are...if he was black he would have said you is what you is...

I couldn't have put it better myself.
I was brought up anglican - so there's some things I'll never get rid of (the odd instinctive 'prayer'/'beg' once in a while).
But once I got out of home and saw what the real world was like I realised I didn't really think much of any organised religions. Some aren't bad, but most are all about control - which may have been slightly understandable when people weren't educated, but make little sense today.
I think there could be someone 'up there' - but if he/she/it is at all interested in us it's only at the macro level.
