who imports gibson guitars?

Wed Apr 22, 2009 6:38 pm

A lot of people play guitar on here so i thought maybe someone might happen to know who the importer for Gibson Guitars is in Australia.

ive tried googling it but havent had much luck finding out who it is.
im chasing some parts and the music stores who stock gibson dont seem to be able to get the parts (or dont respond to my enquiries)
so i want to go straight to the source and see if i can chase them down
otherwise i will get them out of USA (will probably be much cheaper that way anyway)

Ive got a Les Paul Custom.
Its black with gold hardware. the gold has corroded and i am breaking strings down on the bridge nearly every gig so i figure if i replace it with new stuff it might stop busting strings all the time.

I want to make it look all shiney and new again anyway so new hardare will do that.

in the interim i will probably get a small file onto the saddles to see if cant remove whatever the burr is there that is splitting the strings.
anyone got any suggestions on that?

Currently using diaddario 11's - 46
am considering changing brands but am a creature of habit and scared of change....

if you want to keep the guitar original, why not look at getting the old gold bits re-plated? it might even be cheaper than buying new stuff and getting it from the states.

No probs...

I'd suggest you find a good luthier, tell him what the problem is and let him fix it. It'll save you both time and heartache.

is it the same string that is breaking all the time or different ones?

And it's snapping right where the string breaks over the bridge?

thats exactly where they always break

it used to only be the A string but i took it to a guy here who is pretty handy with set ups etc (hes built a couple guitars)
after that i stopped breaking A strings but just lately ive started breaking any string randomly but always at the bridge where it meets the saddle.
its possible i got a bad batch of strings i guess cause they are all from the same packet (3 pack of diadarrios)

I am re stringing it tmw anyway so i thought i would check it with a little file and maybe a tiny drop of sewing machine oil on the saddle.
someone said that might help.
