Welcome! :D I'm sure you'll find this a very friendly, helpfull forum. Are you off your "L's" yet? If "NO", I might have some advice that may be of interest, in regards to local areas that are good to practice in, quiet but some good "technical" stuff. :kuda: Just a thought from a recent re-convert. Cheers!

Thanks mate, not off my L's yet but I'm at the stage where it won't be too long before I go for my MOST test. Any good practice locations would be appreciated!

Sorry for the delay, my son got an Xbox 360 and Xbox Live and it's a real fight to get the one modem connection ( Yeah, I know, wireless router, etc. SOON) Anyway, the place where I spent most of my practice time is an area bordered by Windsor Rd, Pitt town Rd/Cattai Rd/Wisemans Ferry Rd to Old Northern Rd. Might be a bit out of your area perhaps, but it's generally quiet, especially during week days, and Wisemans Ferry Rd to Maroota has some great sections with a variety of corner speeds ( from hairpin on ) plus almost all of Wisemans Ferry Rd has been recently resurfaced. :D :D Check out the layout on: http://www.whereis.com (enter Pitt Town,Maroota, or whatever)
It's an area where you can go down just about any road (that doesn't say "No Through Road" :P ) and you will EVENTUALLY find your way back to where you want to be, without ever seriously worrying about being lost, and having stress-free fun in the process.
I did my "L's" and licence test at Rouse Hill (HIGHLY recommended) and I still go past there regularly on my short rides, so here's where I go (sorry I'm not savvy enuf to put a map up  ) heading north up Windsor Rd/right @ Annangrove Rd (You go past the Rouse Hill LAMS test area after about 400 m - check it out)/ next left @ Edwards Rd (acute turn-carefull)/ coupla bends, turn right @ Nelson Rd(becomes Old Pitt Town Rd) follow to Scheyville Rd (stop sign, turn left then right immediately) into Old Pitt Town Rd again, to Airstrip Rd (turn right) then turn left (next T-juntion) that's Pitt Town/Dural Rd then next T-junction turn right and you're on the good stuff!! Well, almost, and you've missed the 60 zone completely!( Not to mention an intersection that's SO tight, it makes the 6.5m u-turn test look a joke - not so bad this way, but coming back..... try 3m, with a 4WD up your arse ) Up to Old Northern Rd, then it's up to you! :D
Anyway, I'm sure you've got the idea. It's a GREAT area to do easy, lo-stress, enjoyable riding with a variety of road conditions and corners but with reduced worry levels from IDIOTS IN CARS :x :x
Hope this is of interest, and sorry for the length of the post
