New Guitar

Postby aardvark » Wed Apr 01, 2009 1:59 pm

I'm so happy, I could pee!

I had a choice - a couple of trackdays on the racebike before the start of the season, or a new guitar. Well, actually, it wasn't really a choice. It's our 10 year wedding anniversary in October. Sal knows what she wants, so I started thinking of things I could have. So, I decided it was time to get a new guitar. I didn't want to pay some ridiculous price for one, so went hunting around. I came across one at a price that was too good to refuse, so went and bought it today. Apparently, I have to wait until October before I can use it. :(

Anyway, I know there's a few players here, so I thought I'd share the news. Doesn't really matter if I'm the only one that gives a shit!

I got myself a Cole Clark FL1. According to the sales bloke, it'd been sitting in the back of the shop for ages, gathering dust, because no-one wants an acoustic guitar without pickups or a cutaway anymore. Fair enough I say, take a couple hundred off and I'll have it. Done deal. WOOHOO!! The thing sounds amazing and in my own crappy opinion, sounds equally as good as a Maton 325.

I'm as happy as a pig in shit (excuse the pun).

Yeah man I like those guitars, 2 of my students have them. The different bracing changes the response but I love the way it does. Big bass response, complex tones, look, feel and general "mojo" does it for me, it'll get louder and "more complex" as it ages too mate :)

Louder? I actually can't believe just how loud it is!

Mind you, I am coming from a Yamaha 310P, which has been a great guitar. But playing the CC has instantly made me sound like I've been practicing twice as much as I have been. :)

nice pick up aardy,

my dad could play, unfortunately it seems none of us kids got the "playing" gene (and me being a southpaw didn't help).

we still have his Maton lap steel at home, circa mid 1970's and still sounds good.
I used to have a handle on Life,
but it fell off.

You wait a week and you will notice your playing will take a big jump.
Ive found that a new guitar or new bit of gear provides a bit of inspiration and my playing improves a little as a result.

I was hoping to spend my KRudd money on some new guitar gear but it seems the credit card is the priority apparently.
little does she realise that i paid the credit card and then went and ordered all new valves for the amp :D :D :D

good luck with the playing.

i used to play yonks ago, never really got any good at it though :$. Wouldn't mind piking up another guitar one day and having another bash at it.
