Chain lube

How do you guys lube your chain? I use an oil-like chain lube (not sprayed) but after lubing the chain my rims get really dirty by it

good question java, cuz i'd like to know as well. sounds like i use the same crap as you! i've seen some spray on stuff......
how's it work? good/bad/better/worse/price/how long does it last?

I use the Belray spray on stuff. Stick the bike on the rear stand, grab a piece of cardboard to put behind the chain to catch the overspray and and spray away.

It goes on white so you know where you've put it, it sticks like shit to a blanket and rarely picks up dirt and other crap.

I've tried others and keep going back to the Belray gear. I avoid RockOil because it's crap and the oily type stuff in other brands flicks all over the place.

Chain Wax, cant remember the name I'll edit it in later. Then Citrus based "goo remover" to get the small amount that flicks off onto the poilshed rim.

I've been using motul, but i've decided it's too messy, and I'm going to try a wax type next.

Gotta dig up the WD40 so I can clean all the lube off my swing arm and rear rim..

Belray is good but I also sometimes use Castrol ....goes on clear
and a centre stand or race stand is needed to do it proper

I guess belray it is... So it keeps your rims clean ?

There isnt a product made that will keep a chain protected n keep your rims clean they are diametrically opposed. Its a matter of how messy your rim will get n the best way to clean it afterwards.
Also i know it has'nt been mention make sure your chain is hot n spin the wheel forward n apply in front at the bottom of the rear sprocket down into the sides of the chain where the "O" rings are.

Maxima chain wax stays mainly on the chain and that white belray stuff is suposed to be pretty good to.

I use the Maxima Chain wax, it is also good for cables. The only time i get it on the rim is if i put too much on.

I use leftover 4T, flings all over the place(just like the rest).
But I'm not complaining, just give the rim a good wipe after the 1st ride, easy.

motul spray, it got the tube nozzel.

its also water resistant for when it rains.....

I started off with Motul chain oil then went to Castrol chain pil and both ended up all over the rim (despite being advertised as anti fly off), I have just swithched to Maxima Chaim Wax nad have used it 7-8 times now. I'm happy to say I haven't seen a spot on the rim or swing arm.

I guess belray it is... So it keeps your rims clean ?

The Belray stuff also comes with a little nozzle thing so that you can direct it to where it needs to go.

And I use WD40 and a rag to wipe any overspray off the wheels.

I've tried a few different types of chain lube and everything ends up on your wheels to some degree, it's a fact of life. Having said that, I've found both the Motul stuff and the Maxima Chain Wax to be good.

The Motul is nice and sticky, can be a bit messy if you touch the chain later on, and it seems to gather a bit more crap. It seems to be doing a good job of lubing the chain though.

The Wax is nice too, especially when it has dried off a bit cause you can touch the chain with no mess and it stays a lot cleaner. It's harder to get off though. It seemed to need to warm up a bit before it got working, but when you looked at the o-rings they looked like they were lubed pretty well.

I haven't tried the Belray stuff yet, so i can't comment on that.

Anything cheap I've tried (and some expensive) has been crap.
