U.S. Kawasaki factory pulls out

Fri Jan 23, 2009 2:53 am

I don't know if you've read that Kawi here in the U.S. had decided not to run a team this year in AMA. They're turning it over to Attack and saying it's a joint effort. They've layed off most of their road race crew as of tomorrow. There is a release that's been posted on most of the U.S. sites. Another one bites the dust, for now. I'll be watching WSB and MotoGP.

I thought with the recent rule changes that any factory pulling out of the AMA wasn't going to be that much of a surprise. It is a shame though :?

Yamaha are the only ones who have commited to the 2009 series. Honda have already pulled the pin, now Kwaka, and Suzi is very unlikely at this stage, and even if they do, Mladin has stated previously that he will not ride in a DMG run series. So the first and second placed riders from 2008 will not race.

Seems our SBK series is not the only one up sh#t creek for 2009.
