Pegboard....

Postby aardvark » Tue Jan 06, 2009 10:36 pm

Right, I've had it. Anyone found an easy way to stop the hooks/pegs falling out of the pegboard every time you take your F&%KING tools off??

a dollop of silicone in the hole sounds a good idea actually, especially if you put a big serve of it on the peg before it goes through too.
Oh and don't forget to let it cure before you sling any tools off the board like your Clint Fricking Eastwood.

Put them in a toolbox!? (This works well if, like me, you don't know the name of the tools, what they are used for, and only open the box looking for a hammer or superglue when things get desperate. :P )

Putting a neat blob of silicone on your tools will hold them on the board very well and stops them getting all mixed up and in the wrong spot !
Looks so much better when you are leaning on the bench , sucking on a beer and telling lies about how fast you went thru T1 at PI . Also stops your scumbag Mates from borrowing those precious spanners and never returning them .
And if you actually need to use a tool , just borrow them from the neighbour , use em and then find a space to stick em up on your board .
Easy
Ummmm let me see

Tools get upset when you dont know their names ...

Roger Ratchet, Suzie Shifter, Wendy Wrench and Sally Socket etc ....

But, back on topic  my pegs often fall out when removing tools from the board .. I just use this as an excuse to re-position them to a better location .. and then remember to remove the tools a little more carefully next time ;) Also, I think you can get long plugs (black plastic I think) that sit heaps better in the holes and dont come out .. they look like large wall plugs, but dont have the hook on em

And on the seventh day Richo ended his work which he had made. Decided resting was for soft cox, straddled the REX and headed up the old road.
And it was good

I cheat, my 'pegboards' are actually sheets of plain 10mm MDF ;).

I put the holes exactly where I want them (with a outline of the tool that goes there) and I use hooks that screw in.

I thought pegboards were only for people who never use their tools and want to know when someone has taken one down to actually using it for something? :?

Actually, it's quite the opposite. Pegboards are for people who like to use their time in the shed efficiently so that they can get back to sitting on the couch drinking beer and watching the cricket. It annoys the crap out of me to have to go rifling through my toolbox looking for a size 8 spanner, when you can just go to the pegboard and see exactly where it is.

Unless you're one of those lucky sods with too much money who has one of those toolboxes with a slot for everything.

More like there not being enough wall space in my garage for all the tools I've accumulated over the years  ....and I just know where everything is anyway :kuda:

I just put one of everything on the wall... there's others in toolboxes. But when you've got 18 metric spanners in one section of the toolbox, and you want one size, it shits me to tears having to go through all of them to get the one you want. Some might suggest it's because I'm really lazy and.. well, they'd be right. :)

Jase, you can get hooks that have a longer section that is behind the pegboard........they don't tend to fall off like the standard hooks.
I've spent over 40 years of my life riding bikes .... the rest of it, I wasted ..
If it's got wheels or tits, it's gonna give you trouble !
