Hi, been a while since I posted but am looking at getting an older ZX6 bike for track duties only as I don't want to be broke if I dropped the duke, I would appreciate any advice on what years to avoid and what common faults they have.
One option was to pick one up from an auctiuon that has been lowsided and repair it or just buy one and set it up for track days.
Regards

gotta run an 'F' series (95 to 97). They are awesome. I had one and was embrassing the current crop of 600's. I stepped up to a ZX7R but I wish that I still had my old bike

F2 all the way, awesome trackbike. Mine is running rougher than a badgers butt and still manages 1.09 dead around broadford.

Just got a 98 ZX6 for that very reason. Took it round Phillip Island in stock setup and was doing just under 2min. Rubber was a bit difficult to find but got Michelin Power Races that fitted and worked very well. It's got a flat spot between 11 to 12k rpm but have got a new Muzzy can and will get it on a dyno to fix that. It handles well. Not much head shake but will track down a decent damper for it and some race glass to lighten it up a bit. Will let you know how it goes.
