ZX10R Brakes - Again!!!!

Postby Glen » Mon Dec 15, 2008 8:14 am

Just when you thought there couldn't possibly be room for another thread on 2004/05 ZX10R brakes I offer the following opinion .........

The standard brakes are in fact fine.....

I had the calipers cleaned, regreased and put back together by Aitkens on Friday and had the fluid replaced with RBF600.
Took her out to the track on Saturday and guess what...absolutley no fade whatsoever. During the day I even wound the lever in to position 2. The things pull up fine, very progressive, heaps of feel and no back to the bars stuff at all. They don't feel like a light switch when you get on them and theres a little bit of travel in the lever but nothing that concerns you at all.

I'm pretty damn happy with it. My set up now is EBC HH pads, Goodridge braided lines, RBF600 and away you go.... or stop as the case may be :) :)
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

I changed the 10s brake pads on the weekend to the HH's. Combined with the newly put braided lines.... FARK

Massive difference in stopping capability.

Brembo M/C worked a treat for me on Saturday! Braided lines Motul 5100... Minimal travel and heaps of feel! Two finger braking for the first time, Id never go back... Each to their own and Im sure the discussion will continue ;)

the braided lines are worth about 70% of the overall improvement. If you bunged on some HEL lines, the brakes would be way better...

well - how long since you got the last shed ornament ?? Has it been over 6 months ?? .... Once a certain timeframe has passed, its a lot easier to convince the Minsister for Finance and Horizontal Folk Dancing, that a new bike is well overdue...... ;)
