Online Ordering

Postby aardvark » Sun Oct 26, 2008 6:19 pm

I just tried to order a pizza online... crazy, I know. I was far from happy with Dominos online ordering system so sent them this email:

Sir/Madam,

I have just completed my first online order and what can I say but, "Could this possibly be any more frustrating?!"

For some unknown reason I have to click on things a random number of times. Sometimes I have to click once, other times it's somewhere between 12 and 30!! Maybe it's me, maybe it's some kind of software problem, or maybe I'm the only one who has used your woeful online ordering system and no one else has complained?

The random clicking option you've built into your online ordering system is only made more infuriating by the fact that when I'm clicking away like a mad man to remove those horrid little olives, I mistakenly click 17 times instead of 16 and this then removes the capsicum as well as the olives. Which isn't a big drama really because it only took another 27 clicks to add the capsicum back on.

You might ask why I persevered with this? Well, I saw the advertisement on the moving picture box (aka as the TV) for the 3 large pizzas for $24 delivered. So, I jump online, click around your site and find - no, wait, find is the wrong word - I click around your site and DON'T FIND, the advertised offer. Maybe the deal is only for people living in Manama, Bahrain but your marketing people accidentally clicked once too often and the deal got advertised in South Australia instead of that other little island country with all the money?

So, after 14 minutes I've ordered my pizzas. Let's see how it looks when we pick them up. If some of my previous orders (via the phone) are anything to go by, I'm sure the pizzas I get will be as random as the number of clicks required to place a simple order with your online ordering system.

Kind regards,

Only to find out once I'd sent it, that it was caused by some ActiveX control problems which I've now sorted. I wonder if I should email them and apologise?

Oh, and nah I don't reckon you should apologise either. I mean how many times do you get the wrong pizza (whether delivered OR picked up) AND do they care ? Nope!
Loved the letter too btw !  ;)
