Anyone been following the AMCN ZRX1200?

I've ordered the jetkit. Will be a couple of weeks. I would be happy with 5Hp for the price. I have an option of modding the stock pipe too as a mate is going to give me a spankers stock pipe.
My bike seems to go hard enough but it has always had hideous fuel economy. 13km/L. My Hyundai is better on fuel! It did improve after removal of the cat though. Running lean would aid fuel economy though you'd think?

but if its not burning at its optimum efficiency then you will need to use more right wrist to get more "go"...

i'd think that once it was jetted and making good hp, ur fuel economy might not go up because the engine just got a whole heap more efficient... of course you will be playing around with all the lovely new power and a nice flat torque curve that u might ride it harder and subsequently fuel consumption may go backwards ...

parrently they run real real lean to meet emission controls...

From what I've read, the KLEEN emissions control system (particularly the secondary air injection) is a method they use to allow them to run the engine slightly rich. The extra air in the exhaust helps burn off extra fuel so that it will still meet standards. Running slightly rich also means the combustion is cooler, better for the internal components. But again this is only MHO so somebody correct me if it's wrong.

Also, my rex is consistently getting 17 km/L or better just for reference.

not sure bout the fuel economy, on the way to the island......mine used 14.06L for 160K's and then 13.7L for 275K.........you guess which one was keeping a zx9r in sight on a long twisty road.

And when I rode Ken's (AMCN Long Termer) one it was flatter than a pancake off the bottom, I got back on mine and nearly looped the ferker.........

I also like the 'Waki pipe - but I like my kerker better.

I was keeping precise fuel milage way back ( About 3 computers ago in 2002).
My 01' model was getting 20k/l heavily loaded on the Hi-way going to rallies etc, gearsack, Tankbag, O/size swag, Tent & Chair plus me @ over 100kg. At this point it was still stock other than a K&N filter.
Pushing along around the ranges near Cairns it would drop to a worst of 15k/l.
Since adding the Dyno-Jet kit in 2004 (opening up the airbox @ the same time) I am lucky to see 15 k/l ever, but it doesn't use much more if U are into it.
Probably averages around 13.2 k/l now with Kerker Meg system, Advancer, ZZR Cams etc. But I love it .

My 1100 is making 100.4 hp and the flattest torque curve this side of the nullabor. Only mods so far are snorkel removed, this gave 4hp and scorpion end can this gave 6 hp, no dips,or mountains to climb on either power or torque curves on two distinctly dissimilar dynos. I am seriously looking at the carby mods and have asked Santa aka she who must be obeyed for a full Kerker, it's your fault Phil. Will probably not chase any more power, he says with a set of ZZR cams at the ready if he wants, but will be doing some work to the suspenders, maybe not the Ohlins route due to cost,etc. Remember once you have had a REX everything else pales into insignifigance

I think you'll find all the 08's will be the same jetting wise - its how they leave the factory, perhaps even the 07 will be the same. Mine is an 03.

Got the jet kit today. $230 to the door. 2.5hr to fit. Didn't seem as hard as Wootton reckoned. Fiddly but not too bad. Quick run up and down the street seems good. Hard to tell on a cold bike and no dyno. I'm hoping to get better economy too not only from the jet kit but the pilot screws were all over the place. No rhyme or reason to them either- one inner and one outer were similar to one another and the other inner and outer were similar but completely different to the other two.

test it on the bum dyno, let us know how it goes..
