U aint stealing my ZXR

Sat Jul 19, 2008 11:48 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a bit of a locking issue with my ZXR250, usually i would lock my steering by pushing the key in and turning it all the way left; but for some reason i cant seem to get it into the locking position. Its very frustrating as i sit their trying to lock it and it just wont budge. Now its unlocked in my garage, i cant sleep at night thinking someone might roll it away  maybe i should just sleep next to it.... so any suggestions fellow ZXR riders?

buy an alarmed disc lock
or chain your bike to something

If it's not locking with the bars ALL the way left, try straightening 'em up a little. If the stops have been hammered in the past they may be allowing the bars to turn a little too far. Otherwise, powdered graphite in the lock often helps.

If you are that paranoid about someone rolling it away, I would still buy a heavy chain (or a big dog) and use that as well (most steering locks are easily broken). My mate has chain about 6 foot long and he runs it thru both wheels.

Is your bike insured? Even the old Fire, Theft and 3rd Party prop is essential now days and still cheap enough.

All it takes to beat a steering head lock is a skateboard ;)

I think alot of nuts are just using 2-3 blokes, lifting them up and taking them away on a ute etc.
Best attaching ya bike to something... :)

Move to a safer neighbourhood.

hey kevin - to keep your mind at ease... the steering lock on bikes can very easily be jacked/ bypassed.

In other words they are almost pointless.

If you didnt know that then geez....

also get a disc lock and a chain.

LOL don't worry too much guys i'm only kidding about not being able to sleep well and stuff.....i just couldn't get the steering to lock properly. I also live in a good neighborhood. Thanks for all the advice, i think ill invest in a good lock and a alarm system when i upgrade to something more valuable :)
