What oil to use for an ageing engine

Postby AMSH » Sat Jul 26, 2008 11:29 am

Hey,
My ZX6R's got 75,000k's on the clock and I was wondering if it's a good idea to go for a slightly higher viscosity oil than the manufacturers specs or should i just stick with what's recommended? Anybody out there with similar mileage have any suggestions/experience with this?
Thanks in advance.

Cath's old J2 had about the same number of km's and we still ran it on Motul 5100 with no discernible problems. Are you having any problems with the oil you're using now?

I run Semi Synth Silkolene in my race bike - 1999 cbr600 with 76000km on the clock. As far as I know it matches the standard specs for the bike, and is nice and cheap from Supercheap Auto too.
