The Putty BBQ - A Pictorial

Wed Jun 25, 2008 8:29 am

Due to the regular discussion of this, it was decided the other day its about time to put up some details..
Its not something that any of us there are proud of, but it did happen. This was not an all KSRC ride, this was a general ride with lots of different ppl and bikes along. Unfortunately most of those involved are members of this site.
Everyone survived, most are all still on here and get on fine.. (except that guy on hiatus.. )

------------

It was nice Autumn day in April 2006 when a few of us decided to go for a ride up the Old Road and do the loop across to the Putty back to Windsor..
There was a mix of riders, not all Kawasaki's and not all KSRC members, about 12 in total started the ride - 4 didn't finish it as things didn't go to plan..

The meeting..

Like I said, no on here is proud of this and our record of accidents on rides up to this was almost faultless as it has been after this.
This is here to show what can happen when a simple mistake is made in a group ride.
Be carefull out there.!!

If anyone involved in the accident would like to add something please do...

and could ppl not poach the pics or story and post on other forums for discussion. Any questions or info can be put up here.
Saves all the inuendo and missinformation thats already gone around. ;) ;)

I've seen these pics before both on this forum and some other... but still....

What kind of injuries did the riders sustained?

Just wondering how one made it to the guard rail before going up in flames? or was it moved afterwards? hard to tell from the angles of the burning bikes.

There were 3 ppl taken to hospital.
The worse injury was a broken femur I believe.

The bike on the guadrail was with the other bikes at the time of accident. It hit the guardrail trying to avoid the others and stayed there, until it caught on fire and started up..
It started coming for us along the guardrail until it finally died...

You know, I think if they didn't catch on fire most could have been ridden away and we wouldn't be talking about this.. :D

I think this post was a great idea Dave as we have a big trip to the Nabiac ppl should not ride out of there limits as it can bite you on the ass!

I think its a good reminder thats things can go wrong.

Yeepee 3 more sleeps :D :D :D

I heard somewhere that two blokes on some other kind of Kawasaki than the ones that burnt actually made it through the wreckage. Gee they must be like motorcycling gods. Is that true...... :) :)
