Car audio in Sydney

Postby Colette » Mon May 19, 2008 3:27 pm

Can anyone recommend a good place (preferably in the Southern suburbs) to buy and install a car stereo system?

I don't want all the bells and whistles, just as long as they do a decent job at a reasonable price.

Thanks :)

"strathfield car radios... Drive in and Jive away!"

normally Pretty reasonable. especially when you pick a stereo that says "free installation!"

I have a bit of a deal going with Strathfield Car Radios at Castle Hill, If you can travel that far I can make sure you get a really good deal with the System & Rob their installer is the best in the business..... a real pro ;)
You could pick out the gear at a local branch send the details & we can haggle... then its just a matter of an install while we do lunch

So what I'd save on the stereo I'd spend on fuel

Might be in that - if you're offering to take me to lunch that is ;) Hehe thanks mate, will investigate and get back to you :)

how much you wan't to spend mate???
the reason i ask is because there is a huge diff when you are talking stereos.
if you are going under 1500 strathefield is the go as they offer a lifetime warranty on labour. however if you wan't to spend more l send me a message as i used to be into that sort of thing. and i know a few go installers

Thanks Stuart, it's definitely going to be under $1500! So it looks like Strathfield is the go :)

I picked up a Sony CD head unit that play MP3 discs for about $130 - wasn't too hard to fit either. Got the head unit on sale in Super Cheap Auto.

Fitting is usually easy, just depends on what car it is going in, what stereo came out, how short wires have been cut and the condition of the speakers. I normally find standard speakers are under powered for many head units and offer terrible sound quality. All depends on what you want.

You wanna try a mid 80 Vauxhall in England - I needed to tap a permant power for the radio memory, so used the glovebox light. The black was positive and the red was neutral. Got me farked how anyone works on the damn things. Just glad I use circuit testers even on common coloured wires.

i'd recommend:

*doran pro at bankstown

*fairfield car radio at fairfield

both of them are top blokes and offer excellent service.
