Shifty's 12R (pics, dyno sheet, timeslip)

Postby Shifty » Thu Mar 27, 2008 10:23 am

Hey guys

Here's my baby, will post up more pics if I do any work to it... currently budget has been blown on purchase, weekend away, night at the drags, and a morning at the dyno.... and after all that due for a new rear tyre :P

Bike: 2006 Zx12R
Mods: Muzzy exhaust (can only), PC3, K&N, otherwise stock
Accessories: Radiator guard, Ventura Rack
Kms: 14,300 at time of purchase, now at 17,200km (in 1½ weeks!)
Drags: 10.1@143mph (slip below, unfortunately scanned one where I only went 10.2@141)
Dyno: 174rwhp (dyno sheet below)
Seat of the pants: Goes orright.
Other: Aside from a clutch upgrade I want to get into the 9's with the current setup
Immediate plans: New tyres, enjoy it
Medium-term plans: Undertail, indicators, braided lines, good pads, wave discs, bar mirrors,
Long-term plans: Slightly lower, slightly longer, and either big bore & cams, shot of gas, turbo conversion, or a combination thereof :)

The dyno guys were pretty impressed with the numbers (hence them typing 'wow' on it!!), said it's the most power they've ever had from one.

All I really need to do is save a tenth on the launch and I reckon I'll get that nine. From what I've read most of the quicker US guys launch at 4500-5000rpm, unfortunately at 70kg I can't give it that much off the line as the front is pretty keen to loft even when I'm practically lifting myself off the ground by pushing on the bars. Hopefully with a bit of practice I'll be able to figure something out!!!

Thats a great shot shifty, and rewarded with a equally impressive time slip. Best of luck with that elusive 9

I lowered and added extensions to my 05 zx12r roadie last w/e as my other toy still isnt ready
and cracked my first 9, what a b/day pressy. 9.95 at benaraby tnt.

Heading to townsville this w/e for northern nationals and im sure it has more in it yet.

I'm keen but I don't want the ANDRA tech headaches in running 9.99... at the moment it's fairly cheap & easy.

Also I've heard 12's have oiling problems if you push them hard at the drags, not keen to make her go bang or have to invest a bunch of money into an upgraded oiling system for a bike that spends maybe 60 seconds every month or two drag racing.
