We're around, you're just not looking in the right places .

Having said that, and even being a normal bike loving non-gay (I'll leave that one to my ex) family man, I have NFI where you should start. What are you looking for? If you give me a wish-list of what you are looking for, then maybe I/we can suggest something/somewhere you can try.

In reference to your other thread as what's normal, and what's not normal, that's also hard to answer, and I'll include my thoughts in this thread (they are both linked). People's view on 'normality' is coloured by their personality and their upbringing. What I consider normal may not be the same as yourself, and quite possibly isn't the same as anyone else on the forum. That doesn't make me, or you, or anyone else right or wrong.

For instance I consider it to be normal to have freedom of choice in most facets of life, whether it be free speech, your choice of religion, or your choice of sexual orientation. If you choose to be homosexual because that's the way your boat floats, then I respect your choice. I'm not going to pretend I understand fully what's going on in your head, as I'm 100% hetero, but that doesn't matter, it's your boat, not mine. Likewise if you choose to be muslim and pray a number of times a day to Mecca, I also respect your choice. I'm not a religious man, but I can see that it is a very strong part of some cultures (not just middle-eastern ones either) and I can respect that.

Being a single dad I consider it normal to get out of bed at 6am, go to work on the 7:02am train leaving my kids asleep to get themselves up, dressed and fed. It's also normal to get home at 6:45pm, cook, clean, iron, wash up, make lunches, wash clothes and sort out two teenage sons and a 12yo daughter and their homework. Likewise it's normal to be completely stuffed by the end of the week and to sleep into lunchtime on Saturdays, hence missing all the opening hours for the local shops. It's also normal not to see my bike for weeks on end, and it's also normal for the kids to be picked up by their mother on Sunday afternoons for some quality time, leaving me by myself at one of the only times of the week I have to spend time with them. I realise this isn't probably many people's idea of normal, but that's ok...this is my normal.

I’m not going to post a ‘wish list’ we all have our preferences which do change from time to time…. but I think the general advice is to suck it up, take what was good and get on with it... life goes on, with or without you…and I don’t want to be the one to miss out!

You are right; Normal is a grey area with no right answer. I thought it would make for an interesting post... I agree external and internal influences and experiences make us who we are and to some degree influence our choices… therefore everyone has their own “Sense of Normal” as crazy as that may be…..

You have a busy life, but you are also very lucky to have a family.

...actually after seeing the reception most girls get when they join this forum, maybe that's a bad idea .

On my part I am back out there so it's not all bad. I met a lady called Glenys on RSVP a while back and we're seeing a fair bit of each other. We really enjoy each other's company and she and her daughter get along with my mum, Ros, Ros' (now ex) partner and even Ros' mum. My kids think she's wonderful, and my daughter Emma thinks it's great having a 'little sister' (her words, not mine) after having to put up with two older brothers for 12 years.

Glen has a few medical problems but they are under control, and they don't affect her on a day-to-day basis. So things are looking up for me, but we're taking it slowly and not rushing into anything. I'm taking it one day at a time and enjoying the ride.

I'm finding it's impossible to meet someone who I want to spend time with... But i the meantime I have fantastic friends who I hang around with so life is still good
BTW I didn't look for 18 months and then met a guy who was pretty much the biggest idiot I've ever dated so I figure with my taste I'm better off alone anyway

Seriously though Poss, as everyone has said, it is so much better to find out now rather than waste any more time getting involved with someone who is like that. It is much harder to walk away after you have been living with someone, and have given them your heart and soul.

I don't know the answer. How do you ever get the courage to throw yourself into a relationship 100% when you have given all you had and still get hurt?

People are arseholes- here's a little positve reinforcement for you.... (me, skeptical- NAH! )

Oh BM, they are excellent words of wisdom, I especially love the Bear one............. who can be bothered shaving LOL

I have the same problem, 4 years separated, finally got the divorce last november. Definitely trying too hard and getting frustrated when I can't find anyone decent. Will have to relax, get some hobbies but who has the time for that when working full time and have 2 kids to look after!!

Thank god for the bike, who really needs a man............. hehe Haven't quite worked out how to give the bike a really good hug though without poking myself with handlebars etc.

God made bikes so that girls have something better to do with their spare time!... so right you are and now that I now have heaps of it, I have organised to trade my ER5 + ER6 = 2008 Z1000…test rode during lunch early in the week… it blew me away….

By the way – I think the world would be a better place if we call came back as bears
