race suits

You can spend shitloads and buy a top-of-the-line Alpine Stars or Dainese suit for a couple of grand, but I'd be looking at something cheaper. I've got a set of Collins leathers, as does my "twin" Glen. Neither of us have crashed in them, but I've seen a few guys at the track who have successfully tested them out. Collins are available directly from the manufacturer in Qld (http://www.collinsleathers.com/collins.html) starting at about $700/pair (ignore the website it's *way* out of date). If the fit isn't right you can send 'em back and he'll swap them over until you get a pair that fit.

I've now crash tested my Collins leathers and they held up well. I'll get a one-piece suit from them for the track at some point in the future, but my 2 piece did it's job perfectly.

Check Actions at Parramatta they occasionally have run out specials on some old stock. If you are lucky you may find a bargin.

I got my jacket made at DBT in Yagoona, touch wood haven't crash tested it, but the quality and workmanship is first rate and there are plenty of racers around who swear by them, and a member of this fine forum who has a hot ZX6 with 2 brothers out the back who can vouch for them as well.

also walden miller over here in adelaide make sum good stuff... i believe a custom set is abt $1500 ish... they use triple stitching etc....

That would be me , and yes, I can vouch for them. They are at the higher end of the market, but you do really get what you pay for - they are awesomely soft, and a perfect fit, not to mention the demo models I saw that had been pre-crash-tested looked confidence-inspiring.

But Dave #3's Collins were really good value for money... if you're into that sort of thing.

Champions Ride Days are changing over from Joe ROcket to Teknic leathers and are offloading all their old Joe Rocket gear. From memory they are asking $550 for a set (GPX one and two pce suits) and have some sets to suit 'larger' persons. Give them a call on 0427771451 and see what they have left.
