Yeah the 04/05 feel like ya riding on a cotton bud it feels that light & nimble rode a friends 06 & it felt more sitting in the bike & bars a bit lowish but the power is great on the 06 in the higher revs while the 04/05 in the lower revs ;)

I bet if you fittied a TRE to use the right map in lower gears and went down 1 tooth on the front, the 06/07 would become just a lively at the 04/05. Aside from the stability issue, the above is the main area of the taming.

Touche' ! Although, I think ultimate potential performance is more of a yardstick than out of the box (will everybody who leaves their bike completely stock pleas put their hand up ?) , so from where I sit WSB trumps ASB :)

Thanks for the info, you learn something every day :)

Just thought I would put my hand up!!!!! My bikes only need one performance enhancer!!! ;)

Now, as to your comment about modifications and WSBK!!! How many guys that you know of go buy a litre sports bike and then change the following.....Crank,Rods,Pistons,Cams,Valves, Port head, Flywheel,Injection,Forks,Shock,Pipe and Swingarm!!!!!! Cause that is how a WSBK ends up!!! Most guys I know with a litre sports bike stick a muffler or a full system on em and that's about it!!!! ;) So a closer to stock comparison makes more logocal sense to me!!! ;)

Can somebody remind me which model it was that's won in World Superbike ? ... :cheesy:

Only marginally more seriously (something I prefer to avoid), could someone enlighten me as to the source of the crim / gumby labels ?

Cheers,
Brian

Hmm, it won 1 race in the wet, so lets look at final championship possies shall we... and from my reconning, the Crim finished 7th in 05 with Walker on board (its first proper year as 04 just had a privateer team with it) and the gumby was 9th in 06 with Walker and 10th in 07 with Laconi.
So I'd say the crim has performed better in World supers too.. :-)

Stability issue? You know it was never really an issue once the crappy OEM D218's were taken off don't you? And even then it's questionable whether there even was an issue.

Plus the 04/05 was geared tall and was retarded in the first few gears as well. Fix that and it's an even better bike. Crims rule.......... :) :) :)

Once I've re-tuned the nut that connects the bars to the seat I'd like to do a back to back comparison. Would try now but think I need to be in a position to really give it some stick. Just quietly, I'm hoping to go to Superbike school early next year.

Well some would say that Crim riders are retarded no matter what gear they are in, but that's just jealousy talking

Big Kev and I got to do a pretty good back to back comparison of his worked Gumby and my slightly modded Crim over Tawonga on the Supers run last year when we swapped bikes and I'm sure Gos who was following can verify that they are both equally good at leaving "Big Bleck Daaarkies"
