Maybe if they bring another rule in that doesn't allow you to race your 7 Paul, you could attach another new compliance plate that says it was available in 94.

and with all due respect, WTF does racing a 1998 R1 in Asia have to do with eligibility issues for borderline bikes in New Era, in Oz, in 2008 ?? Just another chance to blow your own trumpet ? Good on ya for racing in Asia on a R1, thats fantastic. But its really got *Fuck All* to do with the subject at hand.

So to answer the original question. One would not notice much of a difference between the pre 96 models and the post 95 models, the reality is I am guessing is a good rider will make up the difference if there is one.

The question was asked of me because I have a 96 zx7r that was able to keep up with a CBR 954 or rather I was able to keep in front of, even down the straight at EC (I think was largely due to the fact I could get on the throttle hard out of the corner which gave me a head start on him). We were having an awesome duel at the track day and the guy was planning on running in new era and Honda did not do a 750 thus his interest in my make of bike.

Didn't mean for it to get nasty.

By the way I will be at EC on Easter Monday.

that example was showin the cow i dont need a brand new or the latest bike to run at the front. i would love to run a K model ZXR but couldnt find one . the M just never did it for me sorry

the superbike in question, arent just your normal zx7r's
they are the zx7rr's and they have about 5 +years worth of development over the other bikes in the class. there is about a 30hp difference. and a cost of about 10-20grand difference.

the rider wont help much.

and the fact the all grade riders race together. mick doohan could turn up and race against you. and your chasing the same prize.

so when you stick a $30,000 superbike with dodge compliance plates on he track with an A grade rider on board.
little joe blo in his $5000 paperweight feel a little ripped off when the racing class is designed to keep racing close and on a budget.

mine is cheaper than murrays P. and i aint no A grader he is. so?

A couple of things worth mentioning here :

1. Anything that can be done to a 7RR can be done to a 7R (someone feel free to correct me if I'm missing something obvious), with the exceptions of swingarm location and adjusting rake. Even these could be done if someone wanted to machine the P frame to fit adjuster blocks for the arm, and put another steering head on it. The cost of superbike-level modifying is a helluva lot more than $10-20k greater, but if you want to go fast ...

2. As it stands, the racing class isn't designed at all to provide cheap, close racing - take a look at Forgotten Era and tell me if that's the case If PCRA had chosen to run the production classes originally mooted that might have been the case (aside from the well-known fact that an awful lot of rule-bending and outright cheating goes on in production classes ), but by leaving the F1 class open in regards to modifications it has always been a case of go as fast as you can afford

3. From where I sit, the rider makes all the difference in the world - I can say this as someone who used to own an ultra-trick superbike, when my inability to ride out of sight on a dark night meant I would be cleaned up by somebody on a stocker. Put a C grader on a worked ZX7 superbike, and an A-grader on a stocker, and my money's on the A-grader every time !

the newest huh. well you really have no idea what i have been doing for the last 3 yrs . i took my old dunger 98 R1 to asia and raced it there with a lot of success against brand new bikes. whatever it takes, yes . ever been in traction in an asain hospital ? yes whatever it takes

May not have needed the latest bike, but had to go to Asia. So why didn't you race it on Aus if you can win on an older bike... Eastern Creek is closer than thailand, a long way to go for a trophy...

With this, home made compliance plates and the whole engine case thread, its pretty obvious who's telling miss truths..
Makes the "I was deliverying zx7r's in Oct 95" look a little dodgy too.

These ppl are better to discuss this with ... It appears if we discuss it here or have an opinion, it turns to a shit fight. Perhaps I should have been a bit clearer in my first post that the comments and information sourced were from queries on the PCRA site (some from committe member) and then worded responses a little better to clear it up.
I thought the other interested parties would have been aware of it as they are on the PCRA forum. I knew Mitch was, hence me quoting Eastoes "if you want to sleep at night buy a zxr", the wink and comment to Mitch at the end. It was made in humour.
and sorry about the agro, but I get a little defensive when ppl tell me I am spreading lies when all I believe have done is raise questions, (same as those raised by the ppl that run the series) or have an opinion and posted personal experience. I guess things aren't always read the way they were typed and winks, smiles and links get missed.

This is a discussion forum after all and ppl are entitled to make comment without fear or favour. (subject to KSRC guidelines of course.)

and Murray, perhaps you could post there too to help clarify things, that thread has gone nowhere in comparison to this one.. .
