ZX9 C model Height Adjustment

Fri Jan 25, 2008 1:21 pm

G'day guys,

Just had the bike at the fixers and had the front fork seals redone, head races new brakes the works. I must say now it handles SOOOOOOOOOO much better.

What was noted to me tho is the rear ride height needs to be raised slightly as its way to soft.

As i don't have a work shop manual, anyone got any clue how to do it! I would be able to sus it out if i spent a few hours on it, but i am currently at work and decided might help if i get some info before hand.

Thanks guy!!

If its too soft you need to increase the spring preload not raise the ride height.
On the rear shock is a toothed adjusting ring and a locking ring. Undo the locking ring and tighten the adjusting ring until its right.
You want the rear to sag about 30 -35mm from fully extended to where it is with you sitting on it.

If it is ride height you want to increase, you'll need a new shock cause the c model 9 doesn't have a ride height adjuster.

You could always lower the front for a similar result..

haha Thanks Madkaw thats wat i ment, the spring preload!! thanks mate, bike mechanic said same about 30-35mm when sitting on it..

So with these rings, the top is the locking ring and the bottom is the adjusting ring ? Now when u say tighten as in compress the spring ?

Yep turn the adjusting ring down to put more load on the spring..
If your keen you can try to do it with the correct C spanner, if your rough, like me, you'll just use a screwdriver and a hammer..

Not good quality but have a look at this... similar bike too.. :-)
