thats what i do...
u can get 5 yr or 10yr warranty..the difference is ussually abt $1-200 ...but worth the $$
if u can, go to a bosch 13/16P continous flow unit..4 star and shit loads cheaper to run.. doesnt need power, however it will need a slightly larger gas supply... the unit will cost ya abt $700.. they have 2 yr full parts and labour warranty, and 10 yrs on the heat exchanger... if the gas meter is close (within 4-5m) of the HWS, they will upgrade ur gas supply..if its further, and a lot further, stick with the storage tank...
idea of prices (we dont sell storage no more cos they are dear as shit, costly to run, and we had fall-out with both rheem and dux)
135L storage- 5yr- Approx $900
135L storage- 10yr Approx- $1100
13p- $700ish
16p- $750 ish
Replace storage- exact spot (most are dual handed plumbing)- $220-350
Replace storage with cont flow- upgrade up to 5m gas supply- $400-500
these are current adelaide prices..shhhh dont tell my boss or ill be in the shit...
oh..and for all those "just install it urself" types (who im sick to death of hearing from) ..if u DO install it, and ur NOT a licensed gasfitter... u void ur warranty, and ur home insurance if it goes bang... plus ur liable for fines if the technical regulator get wind of it and do an inspection... and the cheeky buggers contact the gas company to find out who has done what by checking meter reading and the like...

My mate has plans to demolish the joint and turn it into apartments and seems he is going ahead with that idea so the new one isn't gonna happen, so from here I guess we're off to the trading post pick up an oldie and score a gas fitter to install it cos i'm certianly not going too...
