hi all..
I have just got my hands on a 2002 ZX9R... luv it.. how ever at 6'2, 140kgs and size 14 feet I am rather large for this bike.. however I will not consider another bike as I luv my 9R's... (had a 1998 ZX9R from 1998- 2004..)
anyway... does anyone know any where I could find out more about setting up the suspension better to handle a creature of my proportions????
also where can i get hold of a longer gear shift, to handle my size 14 feet? I need maybe an inch longer shift.
other than the usual jibes about jenny craigs weight watchers etc... i would appreciate any valid feed back..
thanks

It would probably be best to have heavier springs fitted front and rear as the standard are realy just suited to a rider of half your size. It would be worth it if you are planning on keeping the bike for as long as you kept your last one.
To get the most of the 9 you may be better off at least having a word with your local suspension shop. Where are you anyway?
I have size 13 plates o meat and never found a problem with the shifter. Possibly try changing the angle of the lever by rotating the splined clamp by a notch and see if that works for you.
Then again try a membership here:

mmmmm..........If you speak to Alex at LAE, he may know of a good suspension setter-upperrer......
what about Dave Cullen ? (Radar) - doesn't he have a shop up there somewhere ? He knows a bit about suspension......
as far as the gear lever goes, any 1/2 decent local workshop should be able to modify your stock lever and add 30mm to the length.

Isn't that guy Mick himself? He did spend quite a few years in the GP circus dealing with the springy bits
