Blingectomy for the MFP12

Sat Oct 06, 2007 5:51 pm

After a few months in the shed, the 12 is finally out prowling the streets again. I managed to squeeze a few bits of bling on board, and some other accessories as well.........its looking pretty flash, and sounds better than ever.

Wheels - Polished outer rims, the centres and spokes re-painted in Gloss Black 2-Pack. Thanks to ProblemChild for the paintwork, they look really good in the flesh, far better than the stock flat-black;

Hel braided lines - 3 line kit.

Rear slotted rotor from RatedR parts

Chrome Ninja bar-ends. also from RatedR

Bagster tank bag

Chrome checkerplate for lower centre fairing - keeps the rocks from getting into the bellypan.

Shortened the Yoshi pipe a bit.....well, cut in it half actually. 500mm down to 250mm. Now it sounds *phat*..... :P

Chrome mesh fitted to all fairing cut-outs

Strobe light kit fitted, from Jaycar

Switchblock fitted inside fairing - switches control Headlights, Strobes, Ignition timing module and front/rear cameras. (Cameras not yet fitted)

Polished numerous smaller parts, including the stock steel rear sprocket - It came up like a plated one !!

Even the chain came up nice and shiny gold with a decent clean....

There are a set of Wet4URacing-copy rearsets coming shortly. They weren't here for this photo session unfortunately.

I intend to fit a set of chromed-centre Galfer discs soon, at a grand the pair, will have to wait until Xmas. I really want a set of these babies. The last brake mod will be a radial master cylinder, perhaps a Gixxer K6, or even AP Lockheed or Brembo. That will sort the brakes right out.

Over winter next year, I will seriously be looking at a Dry NOS system for the 12. That should be exciting .....

Here are some photos of the blinged MFP12....

Very nice. Saw it outside the Canberra Centre this week (Thursday, I think) - I'd never seen it before, but it's very hard to miss. 8)

 its already in the will !!

Smitty - that old rack was only done for that 1 trip down to the Supers - it did a great job for one trip - Now I have a decent rack courtesy of 'Groggles Fire Sale' when I picked up all the good bits off his old 12, including a 'proper' rack.....

Dave3 - those mesh inserts are from SAAS (same mob that used to do steering wheels) - only $16 for a 400 x 280 sheet, which was *just* enough to cover all the cut-outs. I used Silastic Black RTV Adhesive/Sealant to attach the sections - it works great.

The cooling slots in the small centre section do SFA I reckon as far as cooling is concerned, but what they do allow is for all the small rocks/pebbles etc thrown up by the front wheel to accumulate in the bellypan over time......

Marty - Kiss my shiny chrome checkerplate arse !!  You know ya wanna !!!!

Heh I forgot to tell you that the blue neons are going on next pay, discreetly mounted, along with a set of Tireflies. The neons will be hooked up to the I-pod and 50W RMS amp - , so that when I remotely kick-off the I-Pod, the neons will flash in sync. There is just enough room in front of the rear shock to mount a 6" sub-woofer, with a 1" port and response down to 15Hz, they will hear me in Chile !!!!!!!!

and you think I am joking about the neons right ???...............

neons are a bit gay..if ur into that and all...

ive heard of guys stuffing subs, speakers and amps in the bike... wouldnt mind it, but all i can think of is the extra weight, fear of it getting wet or damaged..

Mate, I think that looks great. Polished rims look sweet, pipe is a beaut and the chrome mesh is the mutts nuts.

BUT, and I'm going out on a limb here - I think the checherplate a bit average. It probably wouldn't keep all the crap out, but I'd have used the same mesh as in the cut outs.
