Dry Nitrous Kits

Postby deafwish » Sun Sep 30, 2007 9:55 pm

Hey folks,
Recently, I'm really enjoying getting into drag racing my 04 Z1000. :)
I've recently lowered & strapped it (will be tested next wekend at Heathcote) and should be getting high 10 second passes.

The latest Rapid magazine had a Muzzy Dry Nitrous Kit that they fitted to a ZX12R and had great results after tuning the Power Commander to add extra fuel with it.
What I'm wanting to know is whether my Z1000's fuel pump is adequate to cope with something like a 30-40hp shot of gas?
How difficult is it to fit a nitrous kit?
Any hidden costs that I need to look into?
Where the hell do I get re-fills?!
I presume that a custom PC3 map would need to be budgeted for, as well...

Oh, this is what I had my eyes on:

Not sure about bikes to set up but would assume very similar to a car where a small shot of nos is taken care of by the standard engine management as the oxy sensor richens up the mixture when it sensors the extra oxygen in the exhaust gas. These dry systems are usually easy to hook up but make sure you do it properly and spend the money up front to buy a quaility system or you will melt the tops clean off your pistons  or blow the head of the motor :(
It's a speed thing if you have to ask, you wont understand

Hey buddy,

Just fitted a kit up last week:

Actually haven’t run it yet, so can’t offer much feedback.

Very easy kit to install though and they are supplied complete and ready to go (apart from the gas!).

Fitted up the 300mm rear-end over the weekend to:

Hey Neka,
Fit one to your bike and when it blows up, claim it on warranty & then tell me what bits not to get.

Hmmm....
Not really a fan of the Imerican Chooper/ ricer look on streetbikes.
Each to their own I guess. Prolly why I ride a naked...?
Keen to hear more about his progressions with his dry nitrous kit.

RatedR also do a Dry Nos kit for a 12.........I have been thinking about this for some time.

Will do the suspension first, and get better disc rotors before making any final decisions....

Keep us updated on this kit if you do go ahead and get one, I would love to know how well it works......
