KR-1 Update

Wed Aug 22, 2007 7:31 pm

A bit of an update for anyone interested . Have just sorted out purchasing a half wrecked KR-1 for parts and if another deal comes off the KR count will be 4
Have been collecting bit and pieces and will rebuild the engine on KR number 2 and get it sorted for the track . Kr number 1 will be kept pretty much as is for the moment and flogged at any up coming meetings and track days , seems to be hanging in amazingly well .
Number 3 will be used for spare bits for 1 & 2 . Already need a bolt for the one that snapped on the way home from EC . Holds the handlebar into the fork clamp .
Number 4 should be very original and quite low kays . Havnt actually seen it yet but is only showing 2500 k  but has been on the track for a track day or 2 so we will see . Has original purchase papers and is very clean with original plastics . Will post a photo soon .

Great stuff Billy. You can look like a real pro mate, you know two bikes, one set up for the wet, one for the dry 8) 8)

Thanks for the positive comments gentlemen , not too many people out there think that 4 KR's is normal
A couple of photos of number 4 . It's bloody amazingly clean for a nearly 20yr old bike . Compliance plated 4/88 making it the oldest of the quads . I am not sure on the history but the original owner sold it to a mate of mine who pretty much lost interest straight away and sold it to me .
Must have done just about all its kays on the track . Showing 2350 odd and I feel that they must be pretty genuine when comparing the details on the rest of the bike . Has hit the deck once and has a scrape on one pipe , pity as they are black chrome and would be impossible to repair .

Best part is that it has a full set of race glass that has been painted :D

This one will somehow be put on the road . Don't want to have it fully registered . Pity we don't have the same system as Canberra , could just get it out for summer fun . Am going to look into "red plate" reg , but not sure if its old enough .

Runs pretty well but Im thinking that the primary /idle jets may be a bit clagged up as down low it misbehaves . Get up to around 6 grand and it howls  (did take it out on a private test facility) Haven't even had time to wash it yet , let alone check under the tank and seat . FFS it even still has the tool kit
More soon

mmmmmmm love the smell of Castrol R - I'll try and get you a discount Billy, being that I work for Castrol now :D

Bike collection is looking good - are you hoping to recreate Gos's 4th dimension but in two strokes?
