I'll tell you what the problm is Dave. Parents are too scared to give their kids the bloody hiding they deserve!!
And on top of that, things have gotten so out of control that the cops aren't even allowed to give the little bastards a hiding. Back when I was a we tot, we were too scared to back chat the local copper in case he gave us a kick up the arse. And if we got caught doing the wrong thing, then heaven forbid!!

yea ill jump on the bandwagon too..its all the "do-gooders" who have limited parents ability to whack a misbehaved kid... its the judges who dont lock up trouble makers... its the fact these kids dont have the fear of authority that we had that caused us to worry when dad pulled off his belt...

Yeah, make the bastages tow the line - sit quietly until we need them to go and get more ice.

Agree 100% there is nothing wrong with a good kick in the ass, I got it as a kid and I'm sure many here did aswell. As for the getting the drinks right,

going to need to work on that, or put the lazy ass bar pourer in easy reach

me & my sister were both well trained in the art of extracting cans from the plastic holder thingy & retrieval to the male parental unit.

My kids have even been known to bring us coffee in the morning, but that might not stop them beeing hoons when they learn to drive. I think we're supposed to lead by exapmle....
Honestly though, aside from there being more kids, and therefore more kids in cars, what has really changed in the last 60 years?
Were kids drag racing on the streets in muscle cars back in the 50s? And the 60s and always.
Have teenagers not always gate crashed as many parties as possible - how many people here can say they've never gate crashed a party.
The main difference is that with mobile phones it is easier to let people know about a party, and kids have bigger social networks. So when word gets out is spreads fast.

robracer wrote:If its outa hand then shut it down ..... that is so crazy not to ..therefore anything happening after that point should be their responsibility for the continuing bad behaviour, sorta makes them wankers too for letting it go

I recently was asked to shaparone a 16th Bday party where something similar happened - there were about 15 kids in the backyard having a good time - all of a sudden 5 car loads pulled up and there were kids EVERYWHERE... Party was shut down straight away - music off and all of them (expect about 5) were told to piss off... Great idea until you try to get them out of the back yard, off the property and out of the steet....
All the cars started circling the round about and doin burn outs up and down the street and all the little 16 y.o were hovered in the front yard throwing bottles at the cars driving past, smashing windows etc.
The cops were called twice - but never showed up.
Some of them attempted to get back into the house... it took close to an hour before they would all leave.
So we took all the appropriate measures after the gate crashers turned up - as we were trying to get rid of them, what they were doing to the cars driving past and the burn outs was in no way the owner of the houses fault - she has been stupid letting a 16th birthday party go ahead but can't be held responsible for their bahaviour after she kicked them out.
Mind you the next day she almost managed to track down every single kid that has been there and turned up uninvited and rocked up on the door step of every parents place with a list of damage made to her street and threathened to get the law involved if nothing was done.... everything that was stolen was returned - everything that was broken was fixed in a matter of days...
Its amazing how tuff a 16 y.o can be at midnight in a strangers yard... then how much of a pussy they are when confronted in front of their parents....
