Hmmm, I'm suprised Yamaha didn't offer him a third bike in WSS if/when Curtain returns.

I'd be very suprised if Kawasaki allow him to ride the Yammy.

obviously GP is where he/his management want him to be. I guess if he misses the boat he could be stuck in WSBK for a few years before an opportunity to step upto GP comes along again.

He may not stay on a green machine for long, but as far as being a partiot goes it could be his best avenue for a better GP ride, with the 800's this year, the 250 experience seems to be alot more relevent...

I was surprised to see Troy Bayliss last weekend after he stalled the Ducati on his victory lap by putting the flag pole between handle bar and lever that he hitched a lift back on a green bike flying the Aussie Flag...

thats exactly what Jeremy Burgess said, and is the same reason that Nicky Hayden is struggling this year. The 800's need *way* more corner speed to maintain and improve the lap times, and riders who have graduated from the 125's and 250's have been able to make the transition easier than those that haven't.

Westy should do well, its great news that he has signed for the rest of the year, thanks for the scoop Phil !!

Looking forward to the next race.....

Good on Kwaka for signing him ... now, note to Westy: Shut the fark up, no whining, bitching, crying, excuses or otherwise. Repeat after me "I'm getting used to the bike, and I'd like to say thanks to my team for building me a great bike for today's race ....."

I guess it is prob the best move..

If Curtain comes back he's left rideless, atleast this way he is secured a ride for the rear. And if he can prove himself, he may just get re-signed and have a GP ride in 2008...

good luck Westy.. And please don't openly winge about what you've got.. You've got a shot at the big time now... Just grind your teeth make the most of it, and let it take you where it may.

I'm guessing it's going to be a few weeks before West gets used to the kwaka, but hopefully he can do abit better than the Fonz did.

Damn. And here I was hoping this was his big chance to ride at the front! :D

Seriously though, this is the chance Ant has been dreaming of his whole career. I really hope he can get on with the bike and the team and put his best foot forward and give himself every opportunity of getting signed in MotoGP next year. I reckon his best is at least as good as Randy's but he's more consistent and less likely to chuck it up the road. So can it get any better than an Aussie on a Kwak? 8)

Whilst I'm happy that West has the opportunity to race MotoGP, I can't help thinking that he should have stuck out the season with the German Yamaha Supersport squad.

They are a team that knows how to prepare a winning bike and West could have learned a lot from them in the professionalism stakes before entering the motogp ranks.

Yamaha are also running competitive machines in all of the major 4 stroke catagories and surely Edwards' time as Rossi's team mate is limited?

Anyway, Go Westy!

Cheers,
Pete

Surely the main game is motogp and the kwaka isn't a bad bike this year - de P 5th on merit in Catalunya. If he can impress there it will be his key to a good paying ride for the rest of his career, instead of scratching in the minor classes. Surely a competitve ride in moto gp is worth much more than a wss championship 2nd place?

BTW like the new site.
