West rides for Kawasaki

Tue Jun 12, 2007 1:44 am

This good be an interesting development, and obviously Westy's antics in the super sport paddock havent hurt him!

"The opening day of MotoGP testing at Catalunya on Monday has seen Ilmor's Andrew Pitt return to the paddock as a Michelin test rider, on a Yamaha M1, while fellow Australian Anthony West swapped his usual 250cc Aprilia for a Kawasaki ZX-RR.

With Kawasaki regular Olivier Jacque missing Sunday's Catalan Grand Prix through injury, and team-mate Randy de Puniet also hurt, West - who won the recent Silverstone round of the World Supersport championship as a replacement rider - has been drafted in to help with testing duties."

If Westy gets a run ao the Kwaka does that mean that every one will support him instead of the Aussie on the Ducati??
An Aussie on a Kawasaki should make every one happy.
I hope he can get a ride but more importantly if he can get a ride I hope he does well.

hmmm...

latest from his website says:

After another good Top 10 finish in Mugello, Italy and a quite disappointing race in Barcelona, Catalunya the future for Anthony is not sure at all.
He knows at the moment neither if he will be able to continue in the MotoGP world championship, nor if he will participate in the World Supersport again.

We will keep all of you updated and Anthony thanks all of you for your support. It is not a easy time for him right now.

Keep tuned!

its a bit odd huh?

propaganda Cambo.... the war to win the ride... will all be conducted behind closed doors! ;) Hope he gets a ride on the Kwaka though! That would be sensational.....

first time on the bike, first day of a two day test, will be interesting to see a) how much feedback he gave the team and b) how much he improves on the second day.

considering what Fonsi did on his only ride, i reckon its a good start...

Really only 2 seconds off the pace, Hopkins used Q tires. Casey was fastest on race tires. West has severed ties with his 250 team to race WSS unless a MotoGP ride comes along.

Yep. Hope it was a mutual thing and he hasn't just left them for a better ride. Good luck to him.

I think it is smart move to go to Yammie in the WSS, Puig has recently stated that the 250cc's are a joke with standard of machines and riders being too varied ie. too few factory rockets and the talent ranging from god awful to very good. They were beginning to lap riders in a world championship race with only 23 riders.

I hope Westie makes the most out of his WSS ride and comes back to the GP field on the Green Machine full time, from what I read in sport rider the Kwaka is a sweet handling bike and the new engine parts have finally given them a bit of stink (not Ducati stink  , but an improvement none the less)
