Mate, Krychev is welcome to have a go....but only after I have! I've only ridden it down the driveway and back with the crap tyres on so far. There'll probably be a few "shakedown" runs this weekend though, once I've got some more fuel in it...private test course only as it still doesn't have rego ;)

lookin good mick, aboveboard automotive is good for rego inspections if you need someone.if ya need a hand with paintwork in the future just yell mate  if its anything like my 82 gpz 750 it will be lots of fun & very forgiving :D .

Thanks Mick. Gos gave me the good word on rego inspections, but I was definitely planning on hassling you when it came time to paint...I've got a few ideas but I don't know how tricky they are going to be

Bloody!!!!!! I'd been a naughty boy and had a blat up and down my street...noticed it seemed to bog down a bit and thought I'd check the timing now I had my timing light working again. Check it all and it looks sweet...then I notice the smoke pouring out from under the battery!!!!!! The dodgy rectifier decided to lunch itself and start to melt as fast as it possibly could with a lovely fizzing sound. Luckily it happened in the garage with the seat up so I could disconnect the battery asap and stop the burn before any flames started.

So there goes any chance of rego in the near future cos I'll be trying to source a new rectifier....and the B1 (and C1) had a different one to all the other 650's so they aren't too easy to get a hold of. I was hoping this was something I could replace down the line a bit. There are a few places though, but they are a bit pricey.

mick, do what i did, go to dick smiths and get a 400va rectifier, heatsink and a alu box. rectifier, heatsink, metal box.

it'll cost ya under $55 aside from the leads, thermal paste, and connectors.

It worked well when i got it going, just make sure you check the rest of the electrics and make sure the stator isnt shorting out, etc..

Thanks mike, I'll have a bit of a look through that stuff, although I've found a place in the states that can get me a new one for about $65 dollars including postage that has all the right connectors and a warranty.
