Help decide...

So im making my own fibreglass seat cowl as im not paying 200+bucks for one, will also be making a 1 piece tail section for racing aswell. Now I wanted something bigger then the ones you can buy so I fabbed one up from cardboard (yes purple was the closet paint I had here).

My question, does it look abit big? It sits my ass nicely against it when in full lay down mode. Yes it will be bigger then the seat section so will basically go over to the sides of the tail, should I make one up this size? or smaller? bigger?...

The higher it is the harder it is to thrown your leg over, depends on your age I guess. ;)

View for better idea... zzzak, I was thinking about that, will throw a leg over in boots and leathers and see how I go, im only young but dont have the best knees haha. Will be doing the final shape with foam and shaving it, so will be easier as this is just to get me started.

Looks OK to me, but its hard to judge proportions without seeing a view of the whole bike.

Damn :D too quick.

Looks Ok tho I reckon.

honest mate, the idea of the cowl and the tank being the same height is sumthing greeny mentioned to me the other night, and i reckon hes right..it looks more flowing, so the fact that the mock cowl looks abt the same height as the tank works for me...

Yer someone on another forum said that too, ill get onto the foam and then the rest will be a few weeks away, so ill get around to hacking up my rear can to kill time.

if your doing one for road use why not try and incorporate a lockable door on it so you can use the dead space inside it for storage :?

Paul, i started doing one of these for the 7  . It is more of a pain in the ass than you would think, besides it cost me allmost the same. Just buy one and save yourself the pain and fustration

Yer, its not costing me a thing, so works out very cheap for 2 new rear tails IMO. And id rather do it myself rather then pay for some overpriced piece of plastic haha, im just tight.

Paul, thats why ill be making 2, just a seat cowl and a full 1 piece one.

that looks OK, not too big, but needs a bit more 'shape' at the top, not just a flat straight line. This will be harder to make, but will look heaps better as a finished item.....

Yer Gos, the was the plan, its mainly because I couldnt get the cardboard to the right shape, but ive picked up a brand new seat cowl for 100bux today, so the fibreglass one will be a track thing.
