i use a rag and soak it in wd40... clean it by hand to avoid shit going everywhere....
dont jam ya fingers ya silly bastard ...
then a gentle wash off with water, wash the bike, then a 5min ride to dry, then re-lube chain when its warm-ish..

Park tool stiff plastic brush and kero.
Kero is the greatest degreaser known to mankind, full of vitamin C, no added sugar, 99% fat free and it's kind on sensitive skin.
It's a fundamental part of my beauty routine.

I use a rag soaked in kero.
Tried a paint brush and a tooth brush, but found they get stuff EVERYWHERE
I have this great tool for cleaning the chain called a Kettenmax which unfortunately doesn't fit the RSV too well...
http://www.kettenmax.com/en/index/index.asp
but it works wonders on a bike you can actually secure it to!

Kinda like a Scott oiler I guess by the look of it.

nah, a scottoiler stays permanently attached to your bike and constantly drips oil onto the chain to keep it lubed.
the Kettenmax you clamp over the chain, feed kero into it which squirt all over the chain and brushes inside it. as you rotate the rear wheel, this cleans the chain and dirty kero comes out the bottom.
There's also an attachment for your chain lube sprayer too!
Once done, unclamp, unhook, clean store away until the next clean...
