ZX12R Grab Rail

Wed Mar 07, 2007 5:54 am

I guess this is the right place for this.........

I'm looking for a grab rail for my 2006 ZX12R.

I don't like the ventura rack one, and the one Newport Welding Services in the UK make is now discontinued.

Renntec make one, but does anyone know of any others?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers Graham.

PS..... I may have to get one made by a metal fab. guy in Springwood........... Would anyone else be interested in one?
It will look ok on the bike, for a grab rail, and it will be easy to fit & remove (hopefully without mods)... (otherwise I wouldn't be getting it made)

will it mount to the current bolts up the side like say a early6/9 grab rail?? or will it be across the back??

i dont have a 12...but im just curious...u got a pic of it?

Pictures as requested :D

This is the one Newport Welding Service in the UK has stopped making.

Hopefully he (Springwood Metal Fab/Welder guy) will be able to make one that looks much like this........unless anyone has any better ideas I can take to him?????

He thinks he might be able to mount it from the two rails just under the seat. Not sure - fairly restricted for space between seat & body/frame.

I read somewhere, you have to remove the tail section to fit the one in the above pictures, which will make it time consuming to fit/remove. I don't want it to be a permanent accessory.

I'm only getting one made if it can be fitted from under the seat with limited mods,................ or mount from tie down points (below), but has to look ok when fitted - Possibly a neater version of this.........(without the rack bit on the back)........

Feedback appreciated.

Cheers Graham.

yea if they can make it like the zx9 version by using those tie down points it would be ok...might entice a few ppl to buy em...

that was after all one of the best things abt the 6/9...

Any idea on the price, I wonder if he could make one for the 10 :) I would be happy to take the bike to him to measure up ect if the price was decent

I've got no idea on price, obviously the more I can get him to make, the cheaper they will be.
I'm guessing if I only get one made it will be around $200 - $300 finished.

You will have to get one made up mate. Also have a look at the antislip covers on ebay for the pillion seat. I bought one when i had the 12 and Mrs felt much more at ease.. :D And dont worry about buying antislip and trying to make one up, its a pain in the arse. These are made to fit the seat. Have elastic around it which ties up underneath for easy removal and installation. So once get your spare seat you can just whack it on and your set.. Will not fit on seat under cowl cover.. Cover is to hard to get on and off.. Here is the link.. 8)

I found one in the UK for $180.00 delivered.

It bolts on where the 4 tie downs are.

Works really good.

Looks OK.

I bought a triboseat (from that guy) for my bike so michelle wouldnt have grip problems on the back & do a nutcracker on me. Haven't fitted it yet, but the quality is very high on it.

We also bought one for the Z1000, so that Jeff won't have to talk in a high voice after getting off the bike when carrying a pillion. The back of the Z1000 is raised (because of the undertail pipes) and has made the bike very angled.

The Triboseat cover works, really well!
