A Small Issue – lowering kit for a ZZR250

Sat Feb 24, 2007 3:08 pm

I’ve wanted to lower my ZZR250 by another inch or 2. (I’m only 152cm tall or 4’9” short). Outside of shaving the seat, I’ve been searching, trying to find a lowering kit but so far I haven’t been able to locate anywhere that sells them. Would anybody know of anywhere that either sells lowering kits for a ZZR250 or customises?

Any information would be much appreciated, thanks… :)

No actually I doubled checked and I'm 153cm (5ft) I always thought I was 5'2" for some reason :? Somebody lied to me

As for finding a bike bigger than the 250, I'm pretty comfortable height wise on a Yamaha 400. But I'm not in a hurry right now to get another bike, cause of other reasons, although I’d love too. So I thought I'd look into what I could do with the ZZR for the time being. Changing the seat is looking like a good option at the moment.

There's likely to be plenty of meat in the seat (the bike, not yours), how about a seat resculpt? If all you need is an inch lower they will be able to remove and replace the foam in the stock seat with a different foam OR shave the existing foam down to a more suitable shape so you can get your legs straight down to the ground rather than out to the side and then down OR they can do both. There is a few guys down in Melbourne and one in Brisbane that do this sort of thing, where is MacArthur?

Hey Princess, I am also 5ft exactly and didn't have any trouble with my 250 cause it was a Virago (short cruiser). However, the ZZR6 I had lowered by shaving the seat an inch and winding the preload down an inch and I can get the balls of my feet on the ground now - YAY!

I'm not sure that the ZZR250 has a whole lot of foam in the seat to begin with though....

Mick the Macarthur area is south of Liverpool, NSW. And there's a fella not far from here that can reshape the seat for me. I'm just looking into my options. Thanks all the same :)

Thanks for that

I've checked it out and it's set on 3 at the moment. I could very well take that down to 2, no probs. Cheers :D

macathur eh? PM me and chrissie for a ride some day :) im in Raby and chrissie is in liverpool, theres plenty of fun around here.

as for the ZZR... chrissie is 5'1 and has enought trouble getting a flat foot on the ground

but 4'9 or 5'0.. damn... thats pretty short, and your right whoever said it, theres NO extra foam in any ex250 variants seat.. unless you wanna stick your arse in the airbox, your not gonna acheive much.

with an EX500 shock with pre-load adjustment its easy, but other than that, im not sure what else would help, have you thought about getting boots with bigger rubber on the bottom?

Take my zzr! lol. Bloody thing is way to low. If I'm not motogp style hanging off my bike, I scrape the centrestand on any good corner.

lets see...

so far weve had...

lower the suspension to its softest/lowest setting
cut the foam outta the seat
let out air from tyres

this is gunna be one very uncomfortable bike to ride!!
