In the Dec 2006 Classic & Motorcycle Mechanics magazine there is an article on a cafe racer that a guy made from a Norton Featherbed frame and a Kawasaki W1 650 engine. The blurry piccy below is from the article and I apologise for the quality cos I took it with my camera phone.
In the article it says "The fuel tank is a manx design which was finished by the owner in metallic silver and adorned by the now obligatory 60s Kawasaki emblem". I really liked the look of the emblem and was thinking of some things I could do with it, but the images in the magazine aren't really a lot to go off.
I did a bit of a search around the net to see what I could find out about it, and from what I can find out it's one they adopted for a while in the 60s, after taking over Meguro, that combines a bit of the Meguro's original double M(?) and a circular logo Kawasaki had...maybe with an M for the Meihatsu. Of course nothing had any pictures of the logos, just vague discussion about them.
I also found a badge on ebay that shows the logo in the middle of a flag, so it's definitely Kawasaki.
So I'm wanting to find out what people know about the logo, what other early Kawasaki logos you know of etc.
Here are some of the examples I have managed to find.
