Sounds like it was a recurve bow ! Compound bows have wheels or cams on each end, Recurve bows don't !

Yeah, its a recurve. A left handed setup. 8) Not really into compounds myself.

Was looking for a bare recurve a while ago for hunting purposes, but that was before my funds got a bit low  , Nepean Bowhunters do scored trial hunts at Werrington once a month.

And Glen, I shoot guns too  , but you dont need a licence for a bow and arrow

Yeah, and a gun licence is a bit hard to aquire when you have a criminal record !

I still have my compound i bought in '88 when i lived in Darwin.
A 65 lb 'Razorback' ,being the sook that i am any more than 65 lb/s back then was a big ask.
I've got my goats head mounted at home that i got while using it,(on a hunt near Cobar, NSW around '92 it was) only a 27" spread on the horns but it was a difficult hunt to get close with all the 'roos around.

I have not used it for a while now, as anyone who has bow hunted will know you need to be quiet, attuned to the surroundings and a good 'stalker' to be successful and bag any game.

turn it down to 60lbs, and take up Target Archery !
It's a lot of fun, and you don't need to be quite, except while everyone else is trying to shoot !

Got my G- licence. Go get yours (bowhunter class) and you can legally hunt feral animals in State Forests. Its really easy, common sense stuff.

Yeah, i've been thinking about that, one of the guys from my archery club does a bit of bowhunting !
