Ventura

I have a Ventura 'Imola' seatbag which I found during a net search and ordered through my local bike shop.
It is expandable to a capacity which holds a full face helmet, and has a carry handle. The best thing about it is that it has a base plate that fits around my pillion seat so that the bag just clips on and off the base. It takes about two seconds to release when you arrive at your destination.

Well I must have had 25kgs stuffed in that bloody bag and fecked if I could get it to fall apart! The "Ventura" was probably about half as heavy, and stuffed with about half as much shit as i I stuffed into the "Gearsack" bag this time. So full credit to Mr. or Mrs. Gearsack for Providing a "Strika" proof luggage option!

On a side note, my cheap "Motoline" Tailbag, which is once again a warranty replacement, is also falling apart. The stitching on the ockystrap guides underneath has come apart, so now it has to be ockied over the top of it to secure it. Also the stitching on one of the outer side pockets is coming adrift on the bottom. I noticed it in time and didn't lose anything, but the pocket is useless.

The "Dri-rider" tankbag has not put a foot wrong yet either!

i have a ventura rack on my RF, had gearsac racks on both my gpx & ltd bikes before it. I can safely say that although the ventura rack looks alright, its *NOWHERE* near as solid a unit as the gearsac. Having y mrs on the back of the gpx i felt safe knowing the rack was there as extra for her to hold onto. The ventura rack, well she's got a grip handle built into the bike, but i wouldnt trust the rack to support her if things went a bit pear shaped.

i've got a old front & back zip-together-able ventura bag for the rack, and its good from a capacity perspective, but as its so fricking old i'd trust it as much as a mouldy old towel in keeping the water off my stuff.

Might buy a new bag at some point, but this will do for the moment i guess.

I was lucky enough to have to ride through four hours of rain coming over the mountains the other day, and am pleased to say that with all the rain (and it was fucking pissing down) a little water did seep into the bag, but nothing was saturated. Just a little damp with some items. I was impressed. :)

Good read Strika and some good info guys I'm in the market to get one for the 9 so I will check out the gearsack although is probably harder to obtain than the ventura second hand  as no one probably wants to part with them as they are so good..........
