Fuel pump and gasket

Tue Dec 05, 2006 10:10 am

I've taken my fuel tank off in order to get a nasty dent out of it. I'm trying to take of the fuel pump and have read in the manual that i need to replace the rubber gasket in between the tank and the pump, surely this wouldn't need replacing after 10months of ownership? So my question is do i really need to replace it?
Also the fuel pump doesn't seem to be coming out after taking off all its screws, is there something holding it inplace on the inside of the tank?
Its a 06 zx6r by the way.

hey hollywood.
did you ever sort this problem out?

im pretty sure the fuel filter is in with the pump as well and im curious as to what you did to get it all off cause i wouldnt mind changing my filter.

they get a bit stuck just pull on it ... i used the same gasket on mine when i had to take the pump out and it hasnt leaked a drop!

Well i have all the fuel out of it, but still can't get the pump out, i swear the hole is smaller than the pump so I'm scared that pulling on it will break it? I'm not to worried about the gasket anymore, i don't think it will leak any time soon. If i can't get the pump out I think I'll just get the panel beater to paper it up so he can spray the tank without getting it on the pump.

give it a bit of a twist to break the seal sorta thing, then just pull it straight out!
