05 didn't come in black....might be a clue there!!

Either its an 06, a respary, or an 03 which also came in black.

06 pics here (thanks Cougs)

Yep, Gloss Plasma Blue, Magma Red and Green were the three colours for 05

then Black, Mat Plasma Blue and Green for 06. The Titanium one depicted above was not imported unfortunately

hmmmmm, well the guy at pro honda did say it was an '05 with 3000k's on the clock. I will have to ask a few more questions. I thought they didn't come in black in that year

May have been built in 05 but could be a 06 model

Generally around November they start making the new model

Find the date of manufacture on the frame
give you a good indication

it will be classified as an '06 model then - Kawasaki have been doing this for >30 years.......most models built from Sept/Oct onwards are designated as the next *years* model....

all manufacturers do it

usually anything from aug onwards

Japan and Italy both take august off and then start the next years production

this anomaly is worth considering if anyone is thinking about racing a New Era 2 bike ( up to Dec 1995 is eligible) - it may be that the 1996 model you have was actually built in late 1995..........and if the compliance plate reflects this, then its eligible (even though it was *sold* as a 1996 model...)
