Ear plugs

....i kno deaf guys who ride..

and blind guys who still pull themselves........so what's your point ??

Ok i ordered them so when they show up i will put up a post on how they go.

hopefully they will be pretty easy to make...

They arrived today.
the pictures on their site make you think you are getting a tub of the stuff so i kind of thought there would be plenty of stuff in there to make a couple sets if i f**ked it up but it turns out there is barely enough to make one set.

i followed their instructions very closely and the first one set too quick so that failed and goes in the bin.
the second one i reduced the amount of curing agent in it to try get it to set slower and that means there is barely enough material to make the ear plug.

i think this one has probably worked ok though but i will have to try it out on the bike. it looks pretty crappy compared to the ones i bought from the professionals.

The only real positive thing i can say about it is that the delivery was pretty quick.

anyway my advice on this is if you want proper correct fitting rubber ear plugs pay the $60 (or whatever you can get them for) and get them made properly. Just dont lose them like i did

I used to wear the yellow cylindrical EAR plugs for riding, work and gigs... but I lashed out on the earmold plugs at a recent PI track day and I'm sold! They are way more convenient than the foam plugs... so long as you don't lose them!

Bugger about the American ones being a bit of a pain to work with... but I guess part of the $60 of the earmolds goes to the experience of the tech making them.

I'm sure if you went to earmold, they'd cast another one for half the price or less.

next time i see them i will buy a new pair... (and try to take care of them)

I never wear ear plugs, but in saying that are thay noticable?

feckern yanks... hey stompy! I have a pair of little white plugs I bought 6 years ago from a chemist they have like a mushroom shape top a bit like the headphones on a plane & appart from washing them once a month they are gold!...even have a small hard case they live in, but be buggerd if i can find replacements so I am really carefull to always bung them back in the jacket pocket or if racing I chuck the little box down my boot so I can access it as soon as the lid comes off.

Wife of a friend of mine sticks bluetack in her ears at bed time (he snores a bit) and she swears by it for noise attenuation. Cheap and readily available to. Just don't push it in too far.

the old blue tack works well.
ive used it swimming before.
never used it on the bike though but it should work just as well as these moulded ones (except ya hair will get caught in it )
