Cheap (but good) lid required

Tue Nov 14, 2006 1:32 pm

I've currently got a trusty but smelly AGV X-Vent which is now about 5 years old and was thinking about getting a new lid.

As I'm going be riding around tracks next year I don't want to get something really expensive as I'll prob end up doing a head-stand sooner or later

So what does $200-$400 get you these days (MELB) or would I be better off trashing the X-Vent and then buying a flash one after I've learned how to ride :?:

:P

You should be able to pick up a HJC for that sort of money, maybe not the flash graphics models, just a simple decent bucket. They are a resonable brand in that price range.

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking...It will depend on:
A) how flush I'm feeling in the next couple of weeks
B) how smelly it is.

Thanks for the advice peoples :D

Ive seen a few KBC VR-1 Euro helmets around, priced around the 300bucks mark.... These are awesome value for money.....

RR have some Suomy helmets that usually go for $400 but are reduced to $275 (2 year old models)...

If it's any helpl to ya we have about 4 or 5 spare lids in the garage that we no longer use or need. If your round this area you are more than welcome to pop in and see if any of them are any good to you. They are not damaged but we where gonna get rid of them as we have 6 already for each memeber of the family :?

RJays are now making lids, have heard they're not too bad.
Local bike shop here has them for $110, so look around a bit.

Nitro's are good for Planting flowers in I've Heard.

I've bought 3 used lids off FEEbay this year, 2 cheapies (Bieffe & AGV) & an Absolute gem ARAI Condor for Janelle $285 delivered with a tinted screen. The Dragon scheme on Red & Black.
Just dont buy anything from offshore as it wont be ASA approved & could lead to Insurance dramas.

HJC are the best of the budget lids if they fit your Noggin'

my 2cs.

Well after getting the old AGV out of the cupboard last night (where it's been sitting for the last year) I've decided to retire it.

So far I've been impressed by the KBC VR2 - Mirage Professional Racing Helmet for about $400, also saw some Noland's today for around that money on Elizabeth street that looked pretty cool.....
