I like Phil's idea. But if you are going to rebuild it, to OEm specs or close to it using OEM parts is always the long term rebuild. If you intend on only keeping it a short time, hot the tits off it!!!!!

been down that road. A 9 motor is the go, but it'll cost ya'. Theya re getting harder and harder to find hence more expensive. I know a guy who's getting 141hp at the wheel with only external mods.

Not debating that your mates 9 motor hums, but from experience 141 hp is not an achievalbe figure with just external mods. Unless of course you're talking nitrous or turbo's !!! But seriously, we built a hot one with a big bore kit back in 1996 for a guy who was racing it. A full race engine with a 970 odd cc big bore kit, cams, rods, crank, head flowed, big valves, ignition, titanium Muzzy race pipe and a few other bits gave a healthy 140 at the wheel! Somehow, I doubt a bike with stock internals could pull those numbers even on the most flattering Dyno in Oz!

i'm pretty sure any "B" model (94-97) will fit in with minimal mods, jp is the one to ask tho - he has done it himself.......

Pyka A Happy Dyno can show any number it's programmed to show.

140 at wheel is doable with minimal fuss if you get a good motor to start with.
Hammer has a Dyno graph posted in here somewhere F2 model 143 rwhp.

Numbers are so Flexible always easy to get stung saying what numbers do & dont mean.

Why pay good money to put something back the way it was?? If you are going to spend the cash make it BETTER.

Thats right.. live by this, for instance, if your house gets hit by a tsunami, when you go to fix it up, just paint over the water damage and put a hottub out the back for hot birds to shit their pants in

One other point to look at is that both mods are illegal. You can keep your ZX7 engine, replace crank and other bits to get 793cc. Depending on your riding style, replace cams for high end 130Hp. This would be the simplest way of not showing that you have got anything other than a ZX7 (until you start picking on other 7's). As for the 9, new engine number, no insurance if you drop it (badly), stolen? what's was your engine number son?
Has anyone done the swap for a 9 and had it registered (properly), is this allowed? I thought engine swaps had to be like for like. Increase in 10% HP need certificates.
Try making it before you buy it.

umm possibly....but if u get it engineered and report the motor change to the roads & traffic/rego mob its not illegal...surely...

Ah my B4 had 130RWHP with only external modifications. Was a big gain too.
141 might be possible with stacks and stuff and and an optimistic dyno..
