Yes. Because they'll be pissing off home as soon as they complete their studies (so the rationale goes), they're not eligible for HECS, so their course fees cover the full cost of training them, plus a little extra to make it all worth the university in question's while.

Yes, because it's not like doctors, research scientists, engineers and computer programmers don't put anything back into society over the course of their working lives.i actualy agree with hecs especially when there are the number of so called students who only do it to avoid GETTING a JOB
Yes, because you can have such a swell time living on the sub-$200 per week that away-from-home Austudy pays these days.
