Be Jezuz Bob I cant see 6 large in the piccies you posted, unless the decals are solid gold with Plutonium Jibbers ?. Whats your Excess n how much will you lose on next years insurance ?. May be cheaper to pay for the repairs n go aftermarket imho.
Cheers Brett
PS how did todays ride go ?.
Thu Nov 11, 2004 4:32 pm
the excess is 350 dollars and i dont know what next years policy will look like, the ride was ok except now i feel like i have just done 150 pushups,I think you are suposed to spendmore time on the back wheel that way the rideing position is more upright.
did a run up mt mee just to the lookout and back again couldnt go fast because of the whole running in thing, a mate sujested i go up to etimoga pub and back on the highway just to scrub in the middle of the tyres but i got as far as kalangur and thought it wold be better if i turn left.
Made it home alive too just takeing it steady waiting for that first service, its like it has no soul under 6000rpms but i had better be kind to it and do the right thing.
I think its a nosecone, fairing, clutch cover, barend, brake lever, exhaust, foot peg and there might be somethin i missed ohh drivers side handlebar is bent as well
Thu Nov 11, 2004 6:28 pm
Drivers side handlebar?
Dude leave that cager lingo at the door
Also you dont ride a chicken chaser, that theres a fullon sportsmachine its called a clipon dude.
Dont mind me, I just felt like being contrary.

Hmmm, $6000, seems a bit steep mate. I tore the right hand side off my ZX10 and it cost $8000 to fix that. And you can still ride yours. Maybe take it to a couple of dealers to get a quote. I did with mine, an ended up back at GC Kawa. Will make a difference to your insurance if you can get it done cheaper. And that was also through Suncorp.
Cheers S10

Just a small tip for you.
Aftermarket cans are way cheaper than stockers but you will have to put up with a micron, muzzy or the like
The left over change will more than cover your excess.
The price of oem parts is a rip, i know that after buying auction write offs and rebuilding them but if you were to fix it yourself colour matching kawa green is a nightmare!

Looking at the Pictures, I would definitely say you have Pilot Sports, Race don't have any tread on the sides as they are a slightly treaded slick & don't need tread on the side for cornering on a race track, but no good in the wet.
As for dropping it on the new tyres, you would have to be having a bad day to drop it on the new pilots, as I found mine are quite good from new, I do however wash them with metho, truck wash & lots of clean water before I push it. I have done all my trackdays on the 636 with new tyres either a front or a back, but only after a clean & about 5km's on them.
Do you get to keep the old fairing? might be a good idea to fit it for trackdays, at least then it's less of a drama if you drop it, sort of like race glass?

First of all congrats on the new 636(nice colour by the way

) and bad luck about the off.
$6K damage

.............i have been looking at those pics over and over but still can't find 6 grand worth

.
Brett.....

midtown issues mate...........umm well i have never purchased a bike from them so can't comment on that dept but have dealt with spares/accessories a bit though(no major issue there).
Regards
Glenn(zx7r).

Glenn i DO have some issues & history with The Midtown Sales Dept. As for the Service or Accessories Dept they may be kings amongst men, I wouldnt know, the only reference to them was for matching Kylies prices from other sources. I did Qualify it by starting the post with a Rant banner, I was feeling poor Bobs Pain. Its my opinion that a lot of Dealerships dont really do enough to warrant our Patronage. This is an open forum, everybody is free to an opinion & can counter post about thier good experiences that they have had. I for one would love to read them.
Cheers Brett

Hey Beryl this maybe a good idea for the 636!
1 day when I get some coin saved up I want some to protect her abit more.
I have found that the fairing will rub on the frame & scratch the paint off so the frame guards would be the go.
The case covers would hopefully let me keep riding & not let oil out & dirt in if I had a big slide down the road.
The right hand side transmission cover (clutch cover) is $289.95, the left hand side crank case cover is also $289.95 and the frame guards $499. I would have to order these for you and they would take approx two to three weeks to arrive.
There is a chance I may be able to get Valter Moto frame guards for you (these look the same) if they’re available from Valter moto overseas and these are $410. If Valter Moto don’t have stock it wouldn’t be until September that I could get these for you.
None of our suppliers list an ignition cover. I’m not sure which part your talking about for this – this is why I’ve quoted you on the left hand crank case cover. At this stage, these are the only carbon fibre bits available for the 03 ZX636R.
I hope this helps. Let me know how you go.
Regards

sory to hear that mate. my heart bleeds for u.
Sun Nov 14, 2004 5:08 pm
see most the newer bike are goog cos u can place crash knobs on them, not the 7r tho, which suckes.
thats mostly the cheapest way to protect ur bike.

Bob
Ouch, sorry to see that. If it makes you feel any better i almost dropped mine leaving the shop. I got my 636 a couple of months back, rode down the road and lost the backend at the first round about. I planted the foot to keep it up, pulled my heart out of my throat and putted home to clear my dacks. What made it worse was, my insurance company weren't open and i hadn't been able to get a cover note

That would have hurt.
I said it at the time, i have never had tyres this slipery before. They were that bad, i couldn't beleive it.
I agree, they should have to scrub new tyres after fitting them, or as part of the pre delivery inspection.
Hope you get it sorted soon.
