there are flaws in that guys argument and it always comes up and is debated on most forums i frequent ..
personally if it was my bike, i would just ride it like i normally do when im riding around town, dont rev it much over 9k and dont labour the motor and vary the revs, when u are on the high way drop it up and down the box to keep the revs varied and it should be cool, and frequent oil changes for the first while are a good idea!
most of all enjoy the thing

so how do u guys reccomend running that motor in ? i am thinking i might follow this running it hard method of reving it to about 100 in 2nd and 3rd gear then slowing speed under compression

the running in period often isnt just for the bike.
its can be for the rider too.
you could use that period to slowly get used to the new bike's handling and power - especially if you are up sizing.
And realistically when you buy a brand new bike you will be riding everywhere and that first 1000k's is over before you know it. I know when i had a brand new bike i did that first 1000ks in the first 2 weeks of owning it.

but the dealer told me, u can do exhaust, fender eleminator, and al these extra stuff, he said as long as u don't play with the engine u r fine!!
sounds like your kawa dealer was a bit of an asshat, i guess just dont tell them you did an oil change at 100-20k's

Loosing your warranty on doing an oil change is a load of bollocks. As far as im aware as long as you get your dealer service's done on time, it should be sweet.

i actually didnt think it mattered an iota on WHO put oil in it..i thought the warranty would only be void if u openned the motor up in any way??
does it state u MUST have the bike serviced by a Genuine Kwaka Dealer to maintain warranty??
as for the run in, i dont stress too much abt it... just for the 1st 400 or so km nice and easy..then increase the revs by 1000rpm every 1000km...thats what i did ...
no labouring of motor, no hard engine braking, no wheelies...no snapping the throttle on.... everything nicve and smooth...
but im also guessing by now uve run her in neway...lol...

i've done 900k on mine i haven't changed the oil in mine yet either, i was speaking to my kawa dealer as well as a few other bike mechanics and they reckon that the filter will catch most of that shit! but the service will b done
As for my run in, i have been riding it between 4000 - 8000 rpm each gear.
I am sort of wondering wether i should have dropped the "run in" oil out of it! i mean by the feel of riding it, it doesn't feel like its lacking any power! should i drop the oil out now, or just leave it for another 100km ? till the 1000k service ?

if its done 900km ..i dont see what another 100km is gunna do...
then again, i didnt change my 1st oil till 1000km and my bike was OK for its 14,000km life.....
i did however run mineral oil for the first 6000km from memory...

Ride and service it as the manufacturer intended is my advice, given to me by a wise man, with a shaved head and a beard named Phil, and his bike has done 110,000+, so Im taking his word for it..

wat happened to it at 14,000k did the motor seize up ?
The manual can't be wrong i spose and the filter would catch most of the small flecks of shit in the motor!!
